Saltillo Mexican tiles originate from the city of Saltillo, in the northeastern Mexican state of Coahuila. The craft of making these iconic tiles dates back to the 16th century, with deep roots in Mexican and Spanish colonial traditions. We chose these tiles in Sayulita Lane Cove for their earthy look and feel.
Because they are handmade and dried under the sun, no two tiles are exactly alike, resulting in beautiful variations and blends of color throughout the surface. These natural, irregular tones add depth and authenticity of our space.
