We hear you! The stats are in - Sydney's office vacancy rates are the highest they have been since the mid 1990s, with similar trends echoed nationwide. Despite this, the number of small to medium businesses is on the rise despite economic challenges. These businesses, often started in home offices or around kitchen tables, need space to embark on their journey, to grow and to inspire. Share your space and become part of the story.

Turning underused offices into apartments sounds 'great in theory'. The reality is more complicated Around the world, the idea of turning offices underused in the wake of COVID's work-from-home phenomenon into housing is a hot topic. But experts say such projects are few and far between in Australia for a reason, and creating affordable housing from office buildings is harder than it seems.

Labor was elected in March amid a housing and cost-of-living crisis. The government has previously said developments on public land needed to include a minimum of 30% affordable and social housing.

The premier, alongside key government figures including the housing minister, Rose Jackson, raised the need to rapidly increase the number of new homes being built.

Jackson said she was interested in exploring converting vacant offices into public housing, as well as building attractive social housing properties in the inner city.
