Official Statement from Lifetime Funerals / Into the Dreaming Funerals.
To Our Valued Customers and Community,
We are aware of the recent social media post shared by a previous family regarding their experience with Lifetime Funerals and Into the Dreaming Funerals.
We take all feedback seriously and are committed to addressing each concern with the utmost care and transparency.
1. Commitment to Care and Service.
At Lifetime Funerals and Into the Dreaming Funerals, we are dedicated to delivering funeral services with the utmost care, compassion, and cultural appropriateness.
We meticulously considered all the family's requests and endeavored to keep costs down, ensuring transparent and direct costs.
2. Positive Feedback, Resolution Efforts, and Recent Developments.
After the service, the family expressed their gratitude multiple times for our care and the services provided. When concerns were initially raised through an intermediary agency and advocate several months ago, we promptly addressed each issue and waived any outstanding fees to reach a resolution. It was understood that a resolution had been achieved, reflecting our commitment to compassionate and respectful service.
However, despite reaching an amicable resolution, the family chose to share their grievances publicly through social media comments and reviews, tagging our business pages.
We are deeply concerned by the nature of these public posts, which include negative feedback.
We remain committed to addressing these concerns constructively and ensuring that our community understands our dedication to providing respectful and high-quality services.
3. Addressing Specific Allegations
Transportation and Home Viewing:
Allegation: Late arrival for the home viewing and Kia βPersonal vehicleβ.
Response: We arrived at the proposed time organized on a Saturday and was on call throughout the entire afternoon and night for the family. Viewing finished late that night. The Kia vehicle that was used for viewing is registered in Lifetime Funerals and this was used with the families permission instead of a hearse hire to reduce costing.
Handling of loved one's Hair:
Allegation: Refusal to cut a bit of loved one's hair as requested, citing a "cold shiver."
Response: The decision regarding the handling of loved one's hair was made after careful consideration and in consultation with the family. The mention of a "cold shiver" was taken out of context and does not reflect our professional standards or intentions. We understand that this decision was contentious among the family, and we regret any distress it may have caused. Our primary goal was to respect the family's wishes and cultural practices.
Errors During the Chapel Service:
Allegation: Mispronunciation of names, omission of son and incorrect place of birth.
Response: We sincerely apologize for any errors made during the chapel service. No fee was charged for the celebrant service and sometime mistakes are made, however we apologise for any distress caused.
Burial Plot Name Error:
Allegation: Incorrect name on burial paperwork.
Response: The incorrect name on the burial paperwork was a clerical error by the council, which we promptly rectified upon our notification.
Delay in Providing Fingerprints:
Allegation: Delay in delivering loved one's fingerprints despite multiple follow-ups.
Response: We Delivered Fingerprints to Family's home in a timely manner, given the other commitments and families that we were assisting at the time.
Unmarked Grave:
Allegation: Grave remained unmarked for a month.
Response: We Provided this for free of charge as a gift to the family and the Grave marker was placed in a timely manner. The Grave was not unmarked as a family member had created a handmade foam board.
Death Certificate Delays:
Allegation: Delay in submitting the death certificate application.
Response: We understand the importance of timely processing of death certificates. We apologize for the oversight in submitting the application.
4. Addressing Recent Threats.
We are extremely concerned by the personal threats made against our team and their families outside of these public posts and reviews. Such behavior is unacceptable and is being addressed through legal channels to ensure the safety and well-being of our staff and their loved ones.
5. Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Lifetime Funerals and Into the Dreaming Funerals are dedicated to providing compassionate, culturally appropriate funeral services. We continuously evaluate and improve our processes to better serve our community and prevent similar issues in the future.
6. Encouraging Direct Communication.
We encourage anyone with concerns or questions to reach out to us directly at 1300 464 007 so we can address them promptly and effectively.
We understand the communities concerns and have felt the ripple effect from these allegations.
Open and honest communication is essential to us, and we are here to support all families during their times of need.
Closing Statement.
We are a very small, family-owned and operated business, and we remain committed to serving our community with integrity, empathy, and professionalism as we have always done.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
