Breast Implant Revision/Replacement timing is something that is not discussed very well with patients and on top of that people just forget. So the thing to remember is that implants are man made devices and are not designed to last forever and will start to break down over time leading to complications. The longer the time has passed since your initial surgery the more likely this to happen, but the problems really start to develop in many cases 10 years or more out. The breast also changes in that time and the combination of the two things often creates less than satisfactory outcomes for patients.
So have a plan when you first get them about how and when you would look at doing your revision surgery. It can always be adjusted later but important to have some kind of road to follow to avoid these problems.

Breast Reduction is a common procedure that brings joy and relief to so many of my patients. Very few require a nipple graft, but if you do require one, results are still aesthetically good, but the areola may fade in colour somewhat with time and there won’t be any sensation or ability to breastfeed. We are often asked if we can do breast reduction by liposuction by our patients. The main reason patients are wanting this procedure is to avoid the scars of a traditional breast reduction. Found this video on my phone and thought I’d share it. I love the quality of these new Mentor breast implants. Even if you rupture them they don’t leak like they used to. Your immune system will still chip away at them but hopefully you would have a lot less problems with extra-capsular silicone spread.
Tummy tuck or Abdominoplasty as it’s medically known is a major procedure, but luckily the recovery from it is no worse than from a C-section. If you follow your surgeons instructions you should be able to hit the recovery milestones seamlessly in most cases. When you have a great surgery, small, minimal incisions scars that are easily hidden is what we all want. To achieve that it’s important to listen to and follow your surgeons instructions. If you do that to the letter, usually you ll have a good outcome. Sometimes it can be more complicated than that, but luckily those situations are not very common. In any case if the scar hasn’t healed like you wanted it, it may be reasonable to do a revision surgically or look at laser or other options to improve them. Finally there so always an option for concealment as well.
