🧠 Scientists say that playing chess is one of the ways to lose weight while barely moving. That may seem surprising given that chess is a sedentary game, but a mental workout can burn calories too. Studies suggest that brain activities account for 20% of the calories utilized by the body.

😤 Stress adds another layer to your calorie expenditure. Robert Sapolsky, who studies stress at Stanford University, says a chess player can burn up to 6,000 calories a day while playing in a tournament, three times what an average person consumes in a day.

🍕 More than that, people usually eat less while playing chess, simply because they don't have the time or the appetite.
