Latest PISA studies show that Australian students’ performance has been in steady decline over the past two decades, with maths standards dropping 37 points since 2003, science falling 20 points since 2006 and reading down 30 points since 2000. Understanding of Fractions & its relevance in everyday life; Covers fractions as parts of whole, comparing & ordering, addition & subtraction of like fractions; Applying bar-modelling with fractions for solving simple word problems; Some fun with Fraction Bingo!

Years 3 & 4 Workshop (3hrs, $60/student)
Review & revise Fractions and its relation to Decimals & Decimal Place Values; Covers equivalency in fractions, comparing & ordering, addition & subtraction of all fractions (proper/improper/mixed); Applying bar-modelling with fractions to solve word problems; Solving other word problems with fractions and decimals; Some fun games involving Fraction and Decimals!

Years 5 & 6 Workshop (3hrs, $60/student)
Review & revise base concepts involving Fractions, Decimals, Percentages and Rates; Exposure to using fractions in solving profit/discount and interest rate word problems; Review & applying relevant problem solving techniques for different problems; Problem solving and discussion in groups / teams; Some fun games involving finding information from sample bank statements.
