It’s shopping time! We love incorporating a play element in our learning for the younger grades. This student went shopping around the class room and started to get used to the concept of money. She worked out how much change was need from total amounts, found total amounts by adding her item costs together, and learnt what the value of each coin and note was.

Today we worked on our handwriting, some sight words and phonics. We played a fun memory game to create sentences, learn how to read and pronounce them, and then write them down. We worked on making sure our sentences made sense and if they didn’t, how could we change the words around.

One of today’s lessons was focusing on handwriting and phonics, making sure we knew how to say AND write the letter. Our focus was understanding and writing the short a and long a phonic!

The last few weeks have been all about NAPLAN prep for some students. Major focus for year 3 students has been getting used to what type of questions the test will have and how to answer them. Message me today to find out how to best prepare your students for NAPLAN at home!

We want to take a moment to recognise how far Chelsea has come. She is in year 4 and can recall all of her times tables using a range of methods such as counting, halving strategies, rounding strategies and memorisation. Go Chelsea!

Learning the 4 times tables! Parents this is a good trick to help the young ones learn how to do the 4 times tables once they’ve learnt the 2’s. It’s just a matter of doing the corresponding 2 times table and doubling the answer.
