That's a wrap (for now!)! Last night's event showed up as we celebrated our first winners announced last week - Alto Sol and Pastel Autumn. The support these guys recieved was amazing at Noun Green Square warming up for Romy Black and Nikki Carvell.

We are super pleased to announce a further two residents awarded for their applications. The effort Tiny Dancer (Kimmy Morely) and Disco Ben (Ben Turner) went to was outstanding, with Ben also scoring a guest spot on Cafe Mambo Radio with Nikki Carvell.

A further category opened up under 'Ones to Watch' who will be sure to perform for Soulful Sundown events in the future! Keep your eye out for these ones ;)

Massive thanks to the event partners Digging Deeper Sydney DJ School Alex Preston and Store DJ who supported our bonus prize pool to reward time and effort for eligible subimssions allocated at last nights event.

Really pleased to announce our line up for 4 August - the only underground soulful, funk, deep and disco night on a Thursday inside the iconic glass building of Noun Green Square!

Headlining we bring you Romy Black, a celebrated Australian artist and one of the defining House Music producers to emerge from Sydney in the past decade. His unparalleled international success on Traxsource, Beatport and streaming platforms reinforced by one of his latest releases ‘Testify’ on Motive Records scoring #1 spot on the ARIA club charts dominating dance floors and airwaves alike.

Romy also heads up his label Souluxe Record Co, fast becoming one of the world’s favourite underground house music record labels focused on all things jackin’, disco and soul with a nod to the 90’s golden era of house in its favour of sample-based music.

We also bring you Nikky Carvell. Boss of the Sydney DJ School with releases on Let There Be House and In It Together Records. Nikki is known for work mentoring up and coming talent in Sydney and holds a residency with the international Café Mambo Radio bringing sunset disco, funk and jackin’ vibes to Ibiza airwaves and beyond!

All of this AND we can announce our first 2 NEW RESIDENTS from our recent competition who we can’t wait to celebrate on the night and welcome to the Soulful Sundown family! Alto Sol and Pastel Autumn stood out through their skills, track selections and alignment to our brand with a demonstrated passion to be involved through their submissions.

You will hear more about each one as we head towards the event next week! Come down for a drink, a dance and get amongst it!

Our first open competition for talent is coming to a close and we are delighted to share our short list of DJs and Producers that made it through a first stage review, with support from our team and partners.

No matter the outcome - everyone on this list deserves their place for the time and effort put into the applications, heavily supported by their shared passion for music and nightlife culture.

On Friday 29 July we announce 2 artists from our short list alongside the full line up for the 4 August! We can’t wait to celebrate them at the iconic Noun Green Square!

Anybody that submitted an entry is also eligible for the opportunity to win one of four possible bonus prizes awarded at the event on 4 August, including:

- 1-1 Production lesson with Alex Preston (Toolroom records)
- Place on world first music discovery course (Digging Depper)
- $100 StoreDJ voucher

On Friday 5 August we will announce our final 2 residents from this talent search as well as the Cafe Mambo All That Glitters Guest MIx spot - and we’re looking forward to working on new ways to engage even more artists to perform at Soulful Sundown events in future.

Our aim is to provide equal access to opportunities and let talent lead the process for our artist rosters and with it, build a supportive and inclusive nightlife community a little bit differently 😉😍🥳✨🥂

Our Soulful Sundown family is growing! We are looking for resident DJs to support our events and growth plans spanning Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Melbourne!

As a resident, you will join our community, connect with experienced artists and promoters, be booked for Soulful Sundown events, and will help to shape our growth journey.

The Soulful Sundown journey has been a great learning curve for us so far and it has been awesome to meet so many aspiring DJs and Producers around Sydney, alongside those that enjoy the music and the good friendly vibes we aim to host.

Over the last 4 months, we have been lucky to experience Sydney-based headliners like Husky (chief of Bobbin Head Music) and Alex Preston (chief of Basement Sound and we would say top brass producer at Toolroom Records).

Supporting them has been 16 DJs and Producers - a very small selection of available talent in and around Sydney and who are now members of the Soulful Sundown family!

Our next chapter is looking exciting. Winter is an interesting time in the realm of Sydney nightlife, but we are not sitting on our hands – we continue to hold safe, fun and warm places for like-minded people to connect with deep, soulful and funky inspired house and disco music from around the world.

We also see winter as a great opportunity to get to know more about the talent out there, either established on the scene or looking for their first gig!

That’s why we will shortly be launching a fast-paced Talent Search Competition in partnership with Sydney DJ School, looking for DJs and Producers (established or new) who are seeking new opportunities to share their music at unique venues, connect with like-minded people and make new friends along the way alongside established headliners at our events.

Selected winners will join the Soulful Sundown Residency and associated gigs, but there will also be a range of bonus prizes up for grabs appealing to DJs and Producers alike just for taking part!
