Melbourne Cup! Before the big race, our activities officer organised a fabulous array of materials for Lodge residents to make their own fascinators! Congratulations to all of those who picked the winner or got lucky with their sweeps.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, a trend took off across Australia around the world, to bring cheer to communities who were in lock down. People were invited to decorate wooden spoons and install them at Spoonville villages, which are often located on nature strips or in open spaces. Limited to leaving their houses for exercise only, individuals and families out on their walks would be entertained by these beautifully decorated wooden spoons! This fun idea has encouraged kids all over the world to get outside and exercise instead of being glued to their tv screens and phones.
Recently, our Lodge residents gathered to produce a Spoonville family which could then be placed in the community for others to enjoy. The resulting family of spoons is now in place at Freshwater Beach.
