In a first for WIM, we have three sisters from the local region working together as Technical Field Assistants.
Alyssa Humphries recently joined her two sisters Emily and Caeleigh, who have worked with WIM previously, to assist with the Stavely Block 10 exploration program this summer.

WIM's new community partnership is with the Christian Emergency Food Centre as the major sponsor of this year’s community Christmas Hampers. WIM is proud to support over 450 families across the Wimmera who receive the Christmas Hampers, prepared by the Horsham-based Christian Emergency Food Centre and distributed to families and households in need.
Director of Projects, Michael Winternitz said, “WIM is committed to supporting local communities, service groups and business groups across the Wimmera as we work towards bringing the Avonbank Project online and developing a multi-generational regional workforce. By sponsoring the Christian Emergency Food Centre 2023 Christmas Hampers, WIM is proud to be able to connect with families and communities in need across the region, to bring a little bit of relief and support and make a positive contribution to the wider community this Christmas.”

Each year, WIM sends a Christmas gift to our stakeholders in the form of a ‘local produce’ hamper, sourced by the Wimmera Grain Store in Rupanyup. We are now pleased to also be partnering with the Centre for Participation to assist in preparing these gift hampers.
The Centre for Participation focuses on a range of community support programs and services in the local region. Participants in their new social enterprise program, the Wimmera Food Collective, will work to prepare and pack the 2023 gift hampers. WIM is proud to partner with the Wimmera Grain Store and the Centre for Participation to assist in providing ongoing support in their community engagement and local produce projects.

WIM is a proud major sponsor of local all abilities sporting team, the Horsham Rockets, who recently returned from the annual week-long Tri State Games. Horsham Rockets team members visited WIM’s Community Hub in Horsham to showcase their medals and to discuss the team’s success at the 2023 games. A total of 30 individual medals were won by Horsham Rockets team members, including 13 gold medals. Spokesperson for the Horsham Rockets, Jeff Pekin said, “the team were also proud to win first place in the Indoor Sports Team category and we thank WIM Resource for their valued sponsorship and support.”

This year WIM entered into a three-year gold sponsorship agreement with Rotary District 9780 for the Defying the Drift program, an initiative that has been active since 2010. The program is focused on encouraging senior secondary school students to explore career options in rural and regional Australia, with a particular emphasis on the agricultural sector, and the many professions, trades and vocations needed across regional communities.
The 2023 program was a huge success. It was held again at Longerenong College, highlighting the College's dedication to fostering young professionals in rural and regional vocations.

WIM recently attended the 2023 International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) and expo, where business and industry come together ‘collaborating on trends in mining investment and innovation towards a sustainable future’. In it's 10th year, the three-day event set new records with more than 9,000 delegates from 120 countries, 600 speakers and over 500 exhibitors.
WIM's Director of Projects, Michael Winternitz, said “WIM is a long term supporter and exhibitor at this event. It was a very successful three days and the WIM exhibit was kept busy with hundreds of visitors from across the Australian industry and the world, all interested to find out more about WIM's projects. IMARC has become one of the world’s most important industry conferences and Australia’s largest mining and business event and WIM was pleased to again to be involved.”

WIM is pleased to be a key sponsor of the 2023 Victorian Mine Rescue Competition held at Stawell on the weekend.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the Victorian Mine Rescue Competition is an annual event run by the Minerals Council of Australia as a training exercise for emergency response teams in the mining and resources industry.
Eight teams competed in a variety of simulated emergency situations to test and train mine rescue teams as part of the Victorian mining industry’s commitment to safety and knowledge sharing.
Congratulations to the Fosterville Gold Mine Emergency Response Team for clinching the overall victory at the 2023 Victorian Mine Rescue Competition.

WIM and the Horsham Rockets Tri State Games Team and Committee have agreed to a three-year sponsorship, to become a major sponsor of the all-abilities team. This significant partnership will go towards assisting the committee and the Horsham Rockets team to continue to compete in the Tri State Games each year.
The annual week-long sporting event for people with disabilities provides participants the opportunity to compete against their peers in a range of sporting activities. The Tri State Games encourages the pursuit of sporting interests in mainstream competition and helps promote the achievements of people with a disability to the broader community.
The 2023 Tri State Games will be held in November at Cobram, and in Portland during 2024 and 2025.

WIM is pleased to continue our partnership with 2023 Longerenong College 2nd Year Diploma of Agriculture students, who are undertaking a research project at the our test pit site. Monitoring activity of the rehabilitated area is underway and the student project team will be active on the ground during the coming months, with regular visits to monitor plant growth and soil health across the site as part of their project.
Now in the third year of rehabilitation, the test pit site has been sown with wheat, which is establishing well. We continue to work closely with local landholders for ongoing successful site rehabilitation results that demonstrate broadacre farming and mineral sands mining can work together into the future.

WIM proudly sponsored the recent MCA 2023 Victorian Women in Resources Awards presentation night held at the historic Fortuna Villa, located in the heart of Bendigo's heritage goldfields.
Special guest was Victorian Minister for Resources Lily D’Ambrosio who helped celebrate and recognise the many achievements of women in the Australian resources sector.
Presentations were made to four exceptional women working in the mining and resources industry in Victoria. The award winners will now progress to the National Awards to be held in Canberra in September.

WIM is proud to announce a new partnership with Rotary District 9780, joining as a major partner and gold sponsor for the Defying the Drift program. This partnership entails a financial commitment from WIM, with a three-year sponsorship agreement set to extend until 2025.
Operating since 2010, the Defying the Drift program is an initiative of Rotary District 9780, which represents Rotary Clubs located throughout western Victoria and into South Australia. Targeted at senior secondary school students, it aims to encourage, motivate, and enthuse young Australians to explore options, formulate goals, and implement strategies to assist in their development towards establishing careers in regional and rural Australia.
In 2023 the program will be held at Longerenong College for the fourth year, reinforcing the College’s commitment to developing young talent in rural and regional Victoria.
“WIM is excited to play a crucial role in supporting this educational and employment endeavour, by empowering young students with essential skills and expertise to establish careers in regional Australia," said WIM’s Director of Projects, Michael Winternitz. The Avonbank Project Environment Effects Statement (EES) public exhibition commenced on Friday, 14 April 2023 for a period of six weeks. During this time, members of the public can review the EES and make submissions to Planning Panels Victoria. Submissions must be received by 11:59 pm on 26 May 2023.
As a part of the public exhibition, WIM opened an information hub and released a dedicated Avonbank Project EES website. For more information, visit www.avonbankproject.com.au or meet the team in the information hub at 81 Hamilton Street, Horsham.

WIM's Stavely Block 10 (EL 6873) low impact exploration in early-mid 2022 included shallow drilling and a ground gravity geophysics program.
During early-mid 2023, we plan to conduct further shallow drilling, exploring directly south of Horsham between the Grampians and the Black Range. Geophysics may also be employed but at this stage the type or location is not yet finalised.
