Florence St Family Practice warmly welcome Dr Sam Hanna. He has over 20 year’s experience in general practice in Perth and has relocated to Sydney with his family. Dr Hanna is a compassionate doctor with a patient-centered approach to health care. His interests include: skin cancer diagnosis, removal and treatment; chronic disease management, paediatrics, Mens Health, sports medicine and preventive care.

FLU VACCINES FOR ALL AGES ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT THE PRACTICE.
Children 6 months to 5 years and adults over 65 are eligible for a free flu vaccine.
Flu vaccines for those aged 5-65 are free if you have a chronic medical condition. All other patients- the cost is $20.00.
Please remember that while people over 65 years of age can buy vaccines suitable for the younger population, the FREE vaccine they receive from the doctor has been formulated especially to be more potent.
Covid-19 boosters with the Pfizer bivalent (Omicron 4/5 strain) vaccine are also available to patients over 18, six months after their last covid booster or covid infection whichever comes last. Covid-19 vaccines can now be given with the flu vaccine or a week apart.

With winter on the approach please consider updating your Covid-19 Vaccination. From the 13th of March, we will be administering the Pfizer bivalent (Omicron 4/5 strain) BOOSTER vaccine to anyone over 18 who has NOT had a vaccine or the Covid-19 infection in the last SIX MONTHS.

With the next Covid wave on the rise please ensure you are up-to-date with your vaccinations. We now have the Moderna bivalent vaccine available which also targets the Omicron strain. Being up-to-date means FOUR shots for:
• people over 30
• patients with a disability over 16
• patients with chronic conditions ( eg: diabetes) over 16
(If you are severely immunocompromised that means FIVE shots.)
Also remember, If you have had the Covid-19 INFECTION, you will need to wait THREE months before updating your vaccine.

As of 11 July, a Winter Covid-19 Vaccine booster (4TH SHOT) is available to all patients over 30, THREE months after your last covid vaccine. If you have had the covid-19 INFECTION, you need to wait THREE months before you receive your first or second booster. The flu vaccine can be administered on the same day as the Covid -19 booster.
As RAT tests may be unreliable, if you are sick and your RAT is negative- PLEASE HAVE A PCR TEST. There are now medications available to help fight Covid if you are over 50, immunocompromised or pregnant. To be eligible, these patients, need to prove a positive test and start treatment within the first five days of symptoms, so please don't delay calling the surgery for a phone consultation.
Also please remember to wear a mask when attending the surgery.

Flu Vaccines are available free during the month of June. Covid-19 Vaccines are also still available. Today there were over 8,000 cases of Covid in NSW, please continue to get a covid test if you have cold or flu symptoms. There are now medications available to help fight Covid if you are over 65, immunocompromised or pregnant. To be eligible, these patients, need to prove a positive test and start treatment within the first five days of symptoms. Please also remember to continue to wear your mask when visiting the surgery.

Flu vaccines for all ages are now available at the practice. Winter Covid-19 boosters are also available to patients four months after their last covid booster or covid infection which ever comes last. It is only available to those over 65, immunocompromised over 16, ATSIs over 50 and patients in aged or disability care.

Patients are no longer required to QR code when entering the practice. However, from the beginning of 25 February 2022, all people in NSW over the age of 12 are still required to wear a face mask in the following circumstances:

• at a public hospital or private health facility (including general practices, private hospitals and day procedure centres)
• in residential care facilities or hostels
• in indoor music festivals with more than 1,000 people
• on public transport and public transport waiting areas (including in taxis and rideshare services)
• in airports and on a domestic commercial aircraft

Patients of the practice over 18 yet to be immunised can receive the Novavax vaccine after the 28/2/2022. Please register your interest by phoning the surgery.
Pfizer Booster vaccines are now available for all those turning 16 and over. Immunocompromised patients can receive a booster 3 months after their third dose.
Pfizer vaccines are also still available for children 5-11 at the surgery. All vaccine appointments at the surgery are by telephone only.

Booster Covid-19 vaccines are available at the practice to all people over 18 years of age who have had their second dose more than six months ago. The date of your second vaccine is on your COVID-19 digital certificate. Pfizer Comirnaty has been approved as the booster vaccine. Appointments for boosters are by telephone only.

Booster Covid-19 vaccines are now available to all people over 18 years of age who have had their second dose more than six months ago. The date of your second vaccine is on your COVID-19 digital certificate. Pfizer Comirnaty has been approved as the booster dose.
Third doses are also available to the severely immunocompromised
to maximise the level of immune response to as close as possible to the general population. This is NOT a booster dose and is available 2-6 months after your second dose. Covid-19 Vaccine Update 31 July 2021
Due to the recent Covid-19 outbreak in Sydney, the Government has advised, that all patients over 18, can receive the AstraZeneca vaccine if Pfizer is unavailable. Patients under 40 are advised to discuss AstraZeneca risks vs benefits with their GP.
The Practice is still administering Astra Zeneca vaccines with dose intervals shortened to boost protection during this pandemic to 8 weeks.
We have expressed an interest in Pfizer but have not received a date for delivery as yet. We will post an announcement on our website as soon as we have a date, please check the website regularly.
It is advisable to keep checking the Vaccine Eligibility Checker regularly to be directed to places in the area that have Pfizer supply as more sites appear over time.

As of the 17th of June, only patients over 60 are eligible to make an appointment for their FIRST DOSE of the Astra-Zeneca Covid-19 vaccine at the practice. Please ring to make an appointment (as we do not have online appointments for the Covid-19 vaccine clinics).

If you are under 60 and have already received your first dose of the Astra-Zeneca vaccine without any harmful side-effects, then you are advised to proceed with your SECOND DOSE when it is due.

For people under 60, the Pfizer vaccine is the preferred vaccine. Currently the Pfizer vaccine is only available at major vaccine hubs eg: Homebush; however more sites will open up in July. The vaccine eligibility checker directs people to nearby vaccine centers. It is advisable to check this site regularly.
