CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS SWASS FOR WINNING AUGUST EDUCATOR OF THE MONTH โจ๐๐๐
๐๐๐ย Lifesaver DJ - 12/09/2024 โBeing kind is so important as it impacts peopleโs mental health. To follow up on our โRU Okay?โ day activities we will start our morning by making kindness affirmations followed by creating a kindness jar for our classroom. Each time one of our friends witnesses an act of kindness or practices an act of kindness they will add a token to the kindness jar. They may draw a picture of themselves also and an educator will support them with writing their kindness affirmations. This experience strives to support the children emotional development as they learn about and consider other people feelings and express empathy.โ ๐๐๐

๐ฎ๐๐จ Police Visit ๐จ๐๐ฎ
The Lifesavers had a special visit from the lovely Officers Kelly and Tegan who are with the police. The childrenโs eyes lit up when they seen them walk into the room excited to find out why they were here.
The two police officers talked to the children about their role in the community, their uniforms, gadgets, vehicle and safety protocols. The children listened intently but had lots of questions to ask. โWhat do you use that for?โ, โwhat does that doโ, โdo you put people in jail?โ. Throughout the duration of the police visit the children interacted with the two officers as they learned all about the police force sharing their current knowledge and soaking up all the new information which they provided.
Our friends even got to try on some of the police uniform as the rein-acted arresting a baddie (one of their friends) which was the highlight of the visit as everyone wanted a turn. โCan I be a police officerโ, โI want to be the baddieโ, โyou are under arrestโ. This visit was important as it thought the children valuable life lessons which they can utilise throughout their lives be it knowing who they can trust and talk to in a time of need, knowing the emergency number or something as simple as crossing a road. This information will ensure the children feel safe, secure and supported within their environments. During the question and answers portion of todayโs visit the children our friends were able to relay the information discussed today with the police demonstrating their listening skills, ability to interpret information and communicate it back expressing their understanding of the purpose of todays visit. Points of information the children maintained and reflected on were, โthe police keep you safeโ, โcall triple 0โ, โthe sirens make you go fasterโ, โthe radio tells you where to goโ. Todayโs visit was very insightful and the children absolutely loved it especially the activity packs they received at the end which was amazing.

๐๏ธ EYE TEST DAY ๐๏ธ
๏ธThis morning we had an eye test conducted by a certified optometrist here at Little Zaks Bondi! Ensuring your childโs vision is on track is so important, the optometrist carefully examined each child to ensure their vision is developing well and to catch any potential issues early on. This test is crucial for identifying any vision problems that may affect your childโs learning and development. Each child received a thorough examination, and individual reports will be sent to you soon with the findings and any follow up recommendations!

๐๐ฅ Wacky Wednesday ๐ฅ๐๐
โIt all began with that shoe on the wall. A shoe on a wall...? Shouldnโt be there at all!โ Todayโs Wacky Wednesday began in a similar way, โwhys there a shoe there? Thatโs so sillyโ. The children were invited to search for other Wacky things they could find around the room. This engaged their observationsl skills as they tried to notice things around our room that were not normally there. The children were all very excited about today and put in lots of effort to dress up. As we read the book last week, the children were excited to take part in a real life version. We read the book again today, with the children excited to find the things that shouldnโt be there. As the day went by the children found more Wacky things that had happened and were so excited to share these findings with any visitors, โThereโs a shoe on the wallโ, โwhy are there stinky socks everywhere?โ and โthe dinosaurs are all tinyโ were some of the things that are friends shared with excitement.

๐๐ฆRainbow Ice-Cream ๐ฆ๐
This morning, the navigators joined in a delightful activity where they created rainbow ice-cream using cotton balls and watercolor droppers. This hands-on experience was set up in the table, in navigators room. The children eagerly gathered around the setup, which featured several cotton balls arranged like scoops of ice-cream. Each child was given a watercolor dropper filled with different colors of diluted paint. They were excited to choose their favorite colors and began squeezing drops of paint onto the cotton balls. As they did so, they were encouraged to name the colors aloud, showing their growing ability to recognize and identify various shades.
The activity sparked discussions among the children as they compared colors and shared their preferences. Some were particularly drawn to like red and yellow, while others experimented with mixing colors to create new shades. Their voices filled the room with enthusiasm and curiosity as they explored the possibilities of color combinations. Their excitement voice also added โi want redโ โi want green nowโ, โi want more turnโ.
Moreover, the tactile nature of squeezing the droppers and watching the colors spread on the cotton balls provided a sensory-rich experience. This hands-on approach not only reinforced their understanding of colors but also enhanced their fine motor skills as they manipulated the droppers with precision.
Some children found it difficult to squeeze the dropper in the beginning, and were dripping colors on the cone, however after some attempts they carefully placed each color next to another, creating vibrant patterns reminiscent of a rainbow.
Overall, todayโs activity was a wonderful success in promoting color recognition among the Navigators. By engaging in this playful and interactive experience, they not only learned to identify colors but also expressed their preferences and ideas through creative expression.
