Great news for PhD and Master’s (Research) grads!

The age limit for the Post-Higher Education Work visa (Subclass 485) has been scrapped for PhD and Master’s (Research) graduates! These graduates are exempt from the 35 year age limit and can still apply for the 485 visa in the Post-Higher Education Work stream from 1 July 2024, as long as they are under 50 and meet the other requirements.

It is great to see the Department of Home Affairs recognise the value these highly educated professionals bring to Australia. This is indeed positive news for experienced researchers and PhD graduates who can continue to leverage their qualifications and experience to contribute to the Australian workforce.

Migration Affairs is excited to launch our pro bono partnership with . Together, we’re committed to providing essential legal support to newly arrived migrants and temporary visa holders in Australia.

Migration Affairs staff will be providing immigration support and advice to clients of the centre fortnightly.

Temporary visa holders often face significant challenges due to their limited knowledge of Australian laws and their rights. Fear of visa cancellation or uncertainty about eligibility often deter them from seeking crucial legal support. The clinic aims to bridge this gap by offering accessible, culturally sensitive migration law advice to those in need.

We look forward to empowering our migrant and temporary visa holder community through this important partnership.
