Start planning your bushfire season preparation now! The Blue Mountains City Council have just announced a great initiative to help locals throughout the LGA to clear their yards by operating ‘green waste bin’ collections every week throughout September. Clearing away excess garden vegetation greatly reduces the ‘fuel load’ of a potential bushfire which of course greatly increases your property’s protection chances.

‼️‼️After the wind storm. Announcement.‼️‼️

✅ Council is offering an extra FREE booked waste service to help clear green waste after last weekend’s windstorm. This means there will now be three free booked waste services, instead of two.

‼️ There are different Booked Waste Service options, and residents can choose which combination to use for their three FREE services that are now available:

✔️An extra kerbside Chipping Service – make a booking until the end of July now for a chipping service during August.

✔️ An extra facility Drop Off – make a booking to drop off at Katoomba or Blaxland Resource Recovery and Waste Management Facilities at no extra cost. Next day drop-off usually available and residents can nominate someone else to deliver the material on your behalf.

✔️ An extra kerbside Collection – make a booking for our staff to come and collect bundled green waste. Support can be provided with bundling the green waste for residents with medical or mobility needs.

👍 Each service can be up to 4 cubic metres of material at the kerb, that is the footprint of a king size mattress and one metre in height, or a box trailer full. You can use services at the same time for 8 cubic materials of disposal.

➕➕➕✔️We will ensure adequate staff resourcing so that the utilisation of these services is not unduly delayed, understanding that there may be a large demand for them.

👍🗑️ 🌿 Don’t forget there will also be a weekly Green Bin service in September.
