Self massage your pyloric sphincter to help with with things like sluggish digestion, bloating and constipation.
The pyloric sphincter is located slightly right of your midline.
With the pad of your finger gently sink into the area and
hold for while or until you feel any tension releasing.
You may feel tenderness in the area. Be gentle and listen to your body. Discontinue if it is too uncomfortable or pain is increasing.
If you have any current infection of the digestive tract
avoid this technique until recovered.
Important note: If you are experiencing new and recent
changes in bowel movement including discomfort, blood
in the stool and generally feeling unwell it is always
advised to discuss this with your GP and have it
investigated.
Self massage your ileocaecal valve (ICV) to help with digestion. This may be especially helpful if you have bloating, constipation, loose bowls or SIBO.
The ICV is located about 1/3 to halfway between the bony prominence at the front of your right hip and your belly button. You may feel like a small hard pea or doughnut.
With the pad of your finger gently sink into the area and hold for while or until you feel any tension releasing.
You may feel tenderness in the area that is sometimes sharp so be gentle and listen to your body. Discontinue if it is too uncomfortable or pain is increasing.
If you have any current infection of the digestive tract avoid this technique until recovered.
Important note: If you are experiencing new and recent changes in bowel movement including discomfort, blood in the stool and generally feeling unwell it is always advised to discuss this with your GP and have it investigated.

The Migrating motor complex or MMC is sometimes known as the 'housekeeper' of the digestive system. It is important for cleaning the tract. IT moves bacteria and debris like dead cells and indigestible matter along to be disposed of in our stool. It is important in keeping bacteria from overgrowing in the small intestine. When it isn't working properly it may result in small intestinal bacterial overgrowth or SIBO.

Viscera means organ and visceral osteopathy is a branch of osteopathic treatment that focuses on restoring balance and equilibrium to the internal organs of the body and their associated tissue structures, particularly within the abdominal and pelvic cavities.
It is sometimes likened to massage of the abdomen. Gentle tissue manipulation and release are used to improve function and relieve tension of the viscera and their associated tissues, which hold and suspend the organs and also contain the vessels that supply them with nutrients and provide neurological communication and feedback to the brain.
Visceral Osteopathy is also used within the context of general osteopathic treatment, and other areas that may be contributing to dysfunction are also treated where relevant.
While there are many reasons for people seeking out visceral osteopathic treatment, my clinical focus is on digestion and abdominal discomfort. Common presentations seen are constipation, bloating, reflux, sluggishness, and visceral hypersensitivity just to name a few.
People also seek Visceral Osteopathy for general abdominal pain and discomfort, sometimes known as visceral hypersensitivity and sometimes because they feel they hold stress and tension in their abdomens which affects their general well-being.
If you are straining or struggling to have a bowel movement, try a stool under your feet when on the toilet.

The vagus nerve plays an important role digestive function but if not working properly due to things like chronic stress this may lead to digestive issues.

Try these tips to help manage your reflux.
Might you have silent reflux? if you suspect you do you should have it investigated.
Eating with mindful awareness and presence can be an important action that helps in managing digestive discomforts and improving digestive function. Try to eat slowly, chew well and really pay attention to what you are eating and see how you feel.
Chewing your food well and eating with mindful awareness is just as important for your digestive health as what you put in you mouth! If you are having digestive issues despite eating well and trying different approaches to diet try adding chewing well to your get well programme!
May you be experiencing reflux?
While on occasion acid reflux isn't harmful if you are experiencing it two or more times a week you should get it investigated so as to get an appropriate management plan. Chronic reflux or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) when not managed may over time result in other health complications.
There are a variety of reasons a person may be constipated. If your constipation isn't resolving despite self-care efforts, you should consult your GP to rule out any underlying issues.
