Herons and egrets stand tall in regal grace,
In tranquil waters, they find their space.
Little pied cormorants, with wings spread wide,
Dark silhouettes where shadows glide.
Variegated fairy-wrens in a dance of hues,
A splash of colour in the morning dews.
Purple swamp hens in their vibrant pride,
Stride through reeds where secrets hide.
Eastern yellow robins, bright as dawn,
Sing their songs as daylights drawn.
In this haven where wild hearts roam free,
Blundells Creek holds a timeless plea:
To cherish the life in every feathered form,
To guard this peace from harm and storm.

The w***y wagtail's sudden leap into the air was a captivating moment of natural precision and grace. As it darts upward with remarkable agility, its tiny body cuts through the air, every muscle and feather working in perfect harmony. The insect, a mere speck in the vastness of its environment, becomes the focus of the bird’s swift and deliberate movements.
As a photographer, capturing this moment is like freezing a slice of time.
It allows for the preservation of the bird's dynamic leap and the excitement of its hunt, turning a fleeting action into a lasting image. This snapshot not only captures the bird's motion but also the essence of its energy and the beauty of nature in a single, still frame.
It also had me smiling smugly for a short while.

As the sun went behind the veil of smoke, the sky ignited in a spectacular blaze of colour, with vivid reds and oranges streaking across the horizon. The clouds, rimmed with molten gold, floated like glowing embers in the deepening indigo above. The sky’s fiery hues blended seamlessly, creating a stunning, radiant display that felt both mesmerizing and otherworldly, as if the heavens themselves were ablaze in celebration of the day’s end.

Plover Pandamonium
Masked lapwings, also known as masked plovers, exhibit highly territorial and aggressive nesting behaviour. During the breeding season, these striking black-and-white birds become fiercely protective of their nests, which they usually place on the ground in open areas like grasslands or alongside roads. They use a combination of loud calls, dramatic flight displays, and even physical attacks to deter potential threats, including humans. Their aggressive stance is driven by a strong instinct to safeguard their eggs and chicks from predators, making them one of the more intense defenders of their nesting sites in the avian world.

One of my client's young horses was quite spirited today, making lunging an effective method to ensure a supple horse for riding, which led to a safe and fruitful lesson. Capturing some of the buckjumping on camera was an added treat!
