Greetings Ocean Enthusiasts! We hope your Thursday morning is going well and you are as keen as we are to jump in the water today! Conditions are looking fantastic for a dive at Shelly with the SSE and a Southerly swell and well worth a visit.
Yesterday’s conditions at Shelly Beach were great, with visibility of 5-6 meters, and our divers saw heaps of Wobbegongs, giant cuttlefish, big schools of fish, and nudibranchs. Check John’s dive slates for a further dive breakdown!
We also had a great night dive down at Chowder Bay with the staff yesterday, with about 2-3m visibility and anglerfish galore. We also had a number of the usual suspects, including seahorses, blue-lined octopuses, nudibranchs, sea spiders and more.
Congratulations to Indy, Ellie, Harry, and Fred for completing your PADI Open Water course! Marcos loved teaching you how to dive. Welcome to the world of diving as certified Open Water divers!

This morning we have woken up to glassy conditions down in Cabbage Tree Bay and we can't wait to get wet!
Yesterday our divers had 4-6m visibility down at Shelly Beach, and spotted many of the usual suspects, as well as giant cuttlefish, a number of nudibranchs, fiddler rays and numerous wobbegongs! We also had a few reports of juvenile dusky whalers hanging about from some of the local snorkellers, so it's definitely worth going for a dip today.
We also had Tricky jumping in at Chowder Bay, reporting around 3m visibility and spotting all the weird and whacky creatures there, including lots of frogfish, pyjama squid, blue lined octopus, seahorses and much more. Naturally, this has tempted us so we'll also be heading down there this evening for a staff night dive, to see if we can spot as many creatures as they did!
Today we have our shore divers and open water students down at Shelly Beach with Emma, Marcos and John. If you are keen to join us in the water this week, we still have a few spaces left on our guided shore dives, which are available to book through the link below;

It's an excellent morning divers! The sun is shining, the wind has swung, and we are going diving off Shelly Beach today! With the southerly pulling through, surface conditions down at Shelly Beach are looking lovely and should only improve as we head toward low tide. We don't have a viz report yet but we had some reports of juvenile dusky whalers from the morning swimmers, so fingers crossed we get to see them today.
Yesterday we had John and Marcos diving down at Fairlight, where they had 3-5m visibility, calm surface conditions, and some lovely nudibranch and ornate wobbegong sightings, as well as many of the usual suspects. We also had Irena out with 4 new open water students for day 1, and we wish them luck as they finish up day 2 today!

After a fantastic weekend of diving, we're starting our Monday right by heading down to Fairlight Beach for our Guided shore dives and Refreshers. Fairlight's surface conditions are looking calm and we expect similar visibility to yesterday, where our divers had around 6m and saw cuttlefish, pipefish, octopus, and many of the other usual suspects.
Cabbage Tree Bay is a bit of a washing machine today, so if you'd rather not feel like you're diving in a spin cycle, we'd recommend heading harbor side for your ocean activities today.

What a great morning today is looking like a real Aussie Sunday Funday. Where can I jump in today? CTB or Fairlight are both a great choice this morning, if you’re going after midday then harbourside is our recommendation as there will be a summer strong NE wind later today.
Congratulations to Alex, Christina, and Jennifer on completing your PADI Open Water certificate! Welcome to your new world.
Yesterday, our divers and snorkelers were at Shelly. Some of what they saw included baby squid, eagle rays, and even a magnificent volute, not sure what it is then check out the photo!

As the sun broke through the clouds this morning, our divers have been eagerly preparing for another thrilling day of underwater adventures at Shelly.
Yesterday our Double Guided Shore Divers and Snorkelers saw pygmy leatherjackets, barracudas, many nudibranchs, an octopus, wobbegong sharks, a moray eel, bullseyes, pipefish, old wives, and a little lionfish with 5-6meter visibility at Fairlight.
Today's divers are headed to Shelly where the ocean has promised us a kaleidoscope of vibrant marine life and mesmerizing underwater landscapes. While the north-easterly wind is still blowing, the swell has swung to the south which has improved conditions in the bay, so we recommend jumping in at Cabbage Tree if you get the chance.

It is another stunning Saturday down at Dive Centre Manly, and we expect the waters at Cabbage Tree Bay to be calm and warm.
Yesterday’s Double Guided Shore Divers, Refresher Divers, Discover Scuba Divers, Snorkelers, and PADI Open Water students were at Fairlight, where the viz was 4-6 meters and marine critters were abundant; with octopuses, gropers, nudibranchs, wobbegongs, bullseyes, old wives, and sting rays in the mix.
Congratulations to Alexandra, Alexa, Anavi, Marta, Hanna, Shaun, and Charlie on becoming certified Open Water Divers! The underwater world awaits you, and we are so happy that we got to start you off on your diving journey.
Today we are off to Shelly, where we expect the algae to have cleared out of the bay, and the visibility should now be excellent with the south-south-west winds and barely a ripple on the surface.
We are filling up very quickly for January dives these days, so if you would like to join one of our Divemasters or Instructors on a Guided Dive, Snorkel, or PADI Course, we recommend hopping online and booking your spot as soon as possible.

Good morning divers and snorkellers! On this stunning Thursday morning, what better activity could you think of doing than getting in the ocean?
Yesterday our Double Guided Shore Divers, Discover Scuba Divers, Open Water Students, Refresher Divers, and Snorkelers, had an incredible day at Shelly where vis was 6m and biodiversity was abundant. Divers saw old wives, eagle rays, horned leather jackets, blind sharks, reaper cuttlefish, moray eels, wobbegongs, groupers, nudibranchs, octopuses and more! Incredible.
This morning we are off to Fairlight, as we are sure you have seen that there is a massive sunfish that has stranded near the Bower in Cabbage Tree Bay. Due to this we will be staying out of the way and seeing what we can see on the harbour side with our divers and snorkellers.
If you would like to join us for a dive or a snorkel soon, we do have some availability early in the New Year, but we recommend booking as soon as possible as things are filling up fairly quickly. A belated Merry Christmas to all our divers and snorkelers! I hope you all had a wonderful festive few days and spent it with family, friends, and the ocean! We enjoyed our two days off and are jumping straight back into it today, with our Guided Shore Divers and Refreshers heading down to Shelly Beach for a lovely day in the water.
Yesterday visibility in the Bay was pretty varied, with some areas opening up to 8-9m, and others around 4-5m with a bit of particulate. Lots to see though, with everything from black margin nudibranchs to wobbegongs, as well as giant cuttlefish, eastern smooth boxfish, and juvenile blind sharks.
Today the surface conditions are looking calm in the bay, with a little wave on the point with the high tide, minimal wind and swell predicted for the afternoon and the next few days, so we should have some lovely diving ahead.
We're quite full on our guided dives this week, but if you'd like to rent some equipment and head out, feel free to drop by the shop and we'll get you sorted 😊

And that divers, is why we are heading to Shelly for some Double Guided Shore Dives! With the East South East winds and rain picking up later this afternoon, we recommend getting in the water early for the best vis and conditions at Shelly, otherwise, Fairlight will make an excellent choice for later this afternoon.
Today we also have day two of our PADI Advanced Open Water and PADI Open Water courses with Fletch and Emma, and what a wonderful time it will be tomorrow when everyone wakes up newly certified for Christmas!
Yesterday our Divers enjoyed 10-meter vis at Cabbage Tree Bay and saw nudis, gropers, squid, fiddler rays, Billie the turtle, wobbegongs, and sea stars.

Yesterday the viz was 8 to 10m at times.
If you are naughty and you are reading this at the Mall, then fear not conditions are also looking great for tomorrow! So get that shopping done and dusted and you are on holiday.

Don't let the wet weather get you down today because Cabbage Tree Bay is looking calm and protected from the southerly swell, and visibility is reported to be around 8m! You're probably going to get wet anyway, so you may as well jump in for a dive or snorkel and make it worthwhile 🐠
Yesterday we had our divers down at Shelly Beach where they had 6-8m visibility, saw numerous wobbegongs and groupers, and even got lucky spotting Billy the turtle on the left-hand side. We also had Tricky diving down at Chowder Bay yesterday, with about 1-2m visibility, and some awesome sightings of seahorses giving birth.
We have lots on the go in the water today, and the shop is open and fully stocked with all the dive and snorkel gear you might need for the perfect Christmas gifts! So don't be afraid to drop by.

5 days left!
With just 5 days left until Christmas, why not look at buying some premium dive gear as a gift for yourself or one of your very best friends? We know you've been good girls and boys this year, and you deserve it.
Tricky recommends asking Santa for some new fins - the Hyflex Pro Switch in orange! He has trialed them at Shelly Beach and is in love with them (we won't tell Janet). Because the No.1 rule in diving is colour coordination, he's also treating yourself to an orange paragon mask and an orange platina snorkel.

Yesterday’s divers were at Fairlight with John and Robin, where they saw sting rays, gropers, stripeys, wobbegongs, and mauri wrasse! It was a great day to be harbour side 4-6 meters on the low tide. Now despite the rain today, conditions look fantastic for a dive at Shelly with the strong southerly wind helping push particulate out of the bay leaving us with some hopefully clear blues leading up to Christmas.
If you’re still looking for a gift for your friend, family, or foe, why not give them the gift of diving? Give them a gift voucher (by clicking here: https://divesydney.com.au/gift-certificates/ ) and help them get in the water in one way or another.
