CVHS Celebrates Harmony Week What an amazing day! Students, staff and the community came together today, Friday 25 March to celebrate the rich cultural diversity at Canley Vale High School. Students and staff wore cultural outfits to honour their heritage, or orange to signify the harmonious communication and acceptance. We also had special guests at our assembly to acknowledge our country and pay respects to our Elders. Uncle Malcolm McColl and Deegan from the Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council who presented and celebrated our rich Indegenous community. Our Pacific Islander girls, celebrated by performing traditional Samoan dance, and Mr Htoo’s Year 9 music class spread the message of ‘everyone belongs’ singing ‘We are Australian’. At recess we were wowed by the Qing Fong Dragon & Lion Dance Team bringing the quad and school to life! The celebrations continued at lunchtime with further student performances hosted by the CAPA faculty. The Hall, Library and in front of the English Staffroom were laced with amazing artworks and creative writing pieces that promoted and celebrated the message of Harmony. Thank you to all the students, staff and community members that helped make Harmony Day 2022 a day of celebrating cultural diversity at CVHS.
