On Thursday 23 May, Year 7 Geography students experienced the Bundeena Coastal Track in the Royal National Park with the opportunity to learn about the geological factors that have contributed to creating the unique environment.

Dear Parents and Carers,
We wish to advise that there will be no school on Monday 10 June 2024 for the Public Holiday.
School will resume as normal on Tuesday 11 June.
Year 12 English Advanced went to The Sydney Writer's Festival at Carriageworks in Redfern on Wednesday 22nd May.
A range of Australian authors discussed the craft of writing and sharing ideas to support students find inspiration for their work, draft their ideas, and overcome writer's block.
Some of our students were able to ask the authors questions. The bookshop in the foyer provided plenty of new books to add to our students' reading lists.
Here is a photo of our CVHS Book Club run by Ms Marwa Abedine every Thursday at recess.
This week author, Will Kostakis, visited to read from his book and answer questions about reading and writing. He also worked with our Year 12 English Extension 2 students and Year 11 English Extension 1 students, challenging them to refine their creative writing skills.
He will return next term to share his writing expertise with our student community.
Year 10 High Achievers attended the Campbelltown Campus of Western Sydney University for their Fast Forward University experience. Our students were complimented for their respectful behaviour during the trip.
At the university, the students made new friends from other schools and learned about many career pathways. Students enjoyed playing problem-solving games all over the campus.

Once your portal has been activated, you can use it to give consent for events, process online payments as well as being able to view the school calender.

During National Careers week, in collaboration with the Careers Faculty, the SRC invited all students and staff to dress up as their dream jobs and come dressed to impress for a professional job interview. All funds raised will go towards supporting Cabramatta PCYC that helps the youth engage with positive life paths.
There was Resume Writing and Interview Skills Workshops, Volunteer Program Stalls and a Photo booth on the day. Thank you to our wonderful staff and student SRC members.
On Thursday 16 May, a mix of Year 11 and 12 students attended an event at PVH Company where they were exposed to the corporate sector.
They learnt about career pathways whilst interacting with a panel of professional employees, getting an introduction of what they do in the fashion and retail sector.
On Wednesday 15th May, Year 12 Business Services (VET) students attended an excursion at SCRAM Escape Rooms, Parramatta. Students had the opportunity to apply skills of communication, critical thinking and problem solving which they have developed through the Business Services course in in teamwork-based tasks. This included working collaboratively to solve a series of tasks, missions and puzzles.
For students who were unable to have their school photo taken this week, a catch up photo day will be on Monday 27 May.

On May 7th, a cohort of 89 Year 11 Biology students embarked on a field trip to Bonna Point Reserve, aiming to explore a wetland ecosystem.
This educational outing provided a dynamic and enjoyable learning experience, fostering valuable engagement between teachers and students beyond the confines of the classroom.
CORE Community Services is offering FREE activities for girls aged 10-17 in our local community, with refreshments provided. Girls can bring a friend, win prizes, connect with their community and make new friendships.
All activities are held at the CORE community Services Office at 32-36 Harris St, Fairfield.

On Monday 13 May, Year 12 English Standard and English Advanced students attended an excursion at the Riverside Theatre in Parramatta to see parts of the play "The Crucible" performed.
On Friday 10 May, Year 11 Geography students went to Minnamurra River as part of their studies for Earth's Natural Systems. Students enjoyed a day on the river either kayaking, canoeing or stand up paddleboarding to view sites on the Minnamurra River and Beach that are exposed to processes such as flooding and erosion. Big thank you to Steve and Nikki from Illawarra Environmental Education Centre for the day!

On Wednesday 1 May, students went to Barangaroo.
Barangaroo is undergoing rapid change as a result of urban consolidation and renewal. Students investigated the urban dynamics and assess the sustainability and live-ability of Barangaroo, using 'best practise' planning principles, in order to answer a fieldwork question.
We are going Digital, paper notes are becoming obsolete.

On Thursday 25 April, our Principal Ms Niarchos, relieving Head Teacher for History, A. Hoang, SRC Coordinator R. Goundar, School Captains and SRC students attended the ANZAC Dawn Service at Cabra-Vale Diggers.
Our school captains Caroline Q and Catherine D represented our school by reciting a NZ poem and Ryan N and Albert T attended the service as part of the Australian Navy Cadets.
Today, Tuesday 30 April, Greg Englert attended our school ANZAC ceremony where he performed "The Last Post".

Gathered under one roof, our school community came together for a historic moment - our Inaugural Iftar Community Dinner.
Joining us in breaking fast was our Senior Exec. team and special guests included DoE Fairfield Lisa Porter, DoE Cow pasture, Marianne Siokos, Lansvale Public School Principal, Laura Karam, MP Fairfield, David Saliba, MP Cabramatta, Tri Vo, Mayor of Fairfield, Dai Le, CORE Community, CEO - Juana, Rowena and Shama, actor, film-maker and ex-student of CVHS, Maria Tran and Community Imam, Sheikh Tahir.
With warmth and unity, families, students and staff shared in the spirit of Ramadan, breaking fast together and embracing diverse cultures through a feast of flavors. It proved to be a remarkable success, marking the beginning of a cherished tradition fostering connection, understanding, and inclusivity within our school.
