At Ramsay Health Care, we believe in the importance of nurturing the health, safety, and well-being of every child. This Children's Week, we join families and communities across Australia in celebrating the rights of children to enjoy a safe and happy childhood.
With this year’s theme, “Children have the right to a clean and safe environment”., we are reminded of the vital role we all play in supporting our young ones to grow up in environments where they can thrive physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Whether it's through our dedicated maternity, paediatric, or mental health services, Ramsay is here to provide compassionate care to children and their families.
🌟 Expecting and Curious About Ultrasounds? 🌟
Hey mums-to-be! 🤰 If you’re navigating pregnancy, you might be wondering about the ultrasounds you may have. Ultrasounds are a wonderful way to connect with your baby and get valuable information about their development. 💕📸
Here’s a quick rundown of the most common ones:
1. Dating Scan (6-8 weeks): This early ultrasound helps confirm your due date and checks for a heartbeat. It’s an exciting first glimpse!
2. Nuchal Translucency (NT) Scan (11-14 weeks): This scan measures the fluid at the back of your baby’s neck to assess the risk of chromosomal conditions, like Down syndrome. It’s also a great time to see your baby moving around!
3. Anatomy or Morphology Scan (18-22 weeks): A detailed scan to check the development of your baby’s organs, limbs, and overall growth. They can also check the position of the placenta, volume of amniotic fluid and your pelvic anatomy. You’ll also likely be able to determine if you’re having a boy or girl if you want to know!
4. Growth Scan (28 weeks and beyond): Your doctor or midwife may recommend you have additional scans in the third trimester, especially if there are any concerns or complications. This may be to monitor your baby’s growth and position, or to assess your placenta’s position, amniotic fluid volume or cervical length.
Remember, each pregnancy is unique, so your doctor will tailor your scan schedule to your needs. Plus, if your Obstetrician has an ultrasound machine in their clinic, you may get to see baby at every appointment too!
Feel free to ask your healthcare provider if you have any questions or need more info!

It is easy to get confused on how to dress and blanket a newborn when the weather can change from day to night, and we warm or cool our houses differently.
We know that babies sleep well when they are warm, and the air temperature are cooler, but we can’t always control this with a new baby.
The above guides are just the averages. A rule of thumb is in the summer they wear one less layer than we have on and in the winter, they wear one more layer than we have on.
E.g. if you have a winter baby and they have on a singlet and onesie on and you are going out into the cold or windy they may need a cardigan on that will be removed when you get home.
