1️⃣Very challenging case as the midline was so far off …
2️⃣The shape of the existing didn’t even come close to creating ANY type of BLENDED SYMMETRY!

Also the tooth preparations under the EXISTING PORCELAIN were a NIGHTMARE!

There was a COMBINATION OF:
1️⃣OVER AGGRESSIVE CUTTING
2️⃣NOT ENOUGH CUTTING

It just DID NOT MAKE SENSE!

So we had to carefully remove and then REPREP SAFELY AND WITH PURPOSE FOR AN EVEN AND SYMMETRICAL RESULT SO THAT WE COULD BLEND THE MIDLINE DISCREPANCY.

This case was ultimately a success with a very happy patient!

Provisional vs Zirconia… what does that mean?
Think like this… it’s TEMPORARY TEETH vs FINAL TEETH.
In full arch dentistry when we are recreating teeth on implants, we need to achieve certain things before we give you your final teeth, however we DON’T WANT YOU WALKING AROUND AND STRUGGLING WITHOUT TEETH EITHER!
If we can, and if your body allows us too, we always give you teeth PRETTY MUCH STRAIGHT AWAY.
But then down the track we need to CHANGE THESE INTO FINAL TEETH.
Patients always ask me why Pete, when these temporary teeth look so good?
Think of it like this…
You start training/dieting/ lifestyle change.
You buy new clothes coz old ones don’t fit.
Then you continue loosing weight and or changing your body.
Once you reach your goal, You need new clothes and a new look that fits with your physical healing and new body…

I am a restorative guy by choice… which means I like playing with teeth… the ARTISTRY. But don’t worry, I CAN IMPLANT…

🚨NEWS ALERT🚨… My Aesthetics are NOT Always Perfect! But PROGRESS through a PREDICTABLE PROCESS, creates PRECISION in the end.
There is a lot about this post I can talk about. The original condition of the TEETH, The DENTURE, The TREATMENT PLAN…
What I will talk about is the IMPORTANCE OF PURPOSEFUL TEMPORARY TEETH IN MY WORKFLOW!
You see these again are TEMPORARY TEETH.
Lucky for ME and the Patient we WORK BACKWARDS and create temporary teeth that are a guide to what the final treatment will look like.
In this case I GOT TRICKED BY THE PATIENTS LIP AND MADE THE FRONT RIGHT TOOTH TOO LONG AND IT STUCK OUT!
Why?
Because I didn’t anticipate how much the lip would RAISE AND RELAX when the Patient DID NOT HAVE TO LIVE WITH CONSTANTLY STRAINING HER LIP TO KEEP THE LOOSE DENTURE IN AS SHE WAS EMBARRASSED ABOUT THE LOOK/ BROKEN ROOTS
THAT THE PREVIOUS DENTIST LEFT IN HER MOUTH.
…
Moral of the story… sometimes we can get close to predicting biology.
However IF WE BUILD PROCESSES INTO OUR TREATMENT WE CAN CAN PREDICTABLY PROGRESS THROUGH THE STAGES OF TREATMENT UNTIL WE GET A PRECISE RESULT.

✅You wear it at NIGHT when you SLEEP.

This is another one of our REDO CASES. Patient had a smile makeover done a year ago with another dentist.

He wasn’t happy.

The LOOK, The FEEL, The constant TENSION, all bothered him.

When I looked at his crowns and veneers I knew what the issues where.

However at first glance the work was pretty good in terms of:
1️⃣tooth preps
2️⃣cementation
3️⃣good gum seal…

But THATS WHERE IT STOPPED.

In essence, they were NICE INDIVIDUAL TEETH , but TOGETHER THEY WERE NOT THIS PATIENT’S TEETH.

Moral of the Story…

DOING THE DENTISTRY IS NOT THE SAME AS UNDERSTANDING THE DENTISTRY.

We NEVER Grind.

WE PURPOSELY PREPARE TEETH SO THAT WE CAN FIT THE CORRECTLY SHAPED PORCELAIN ONTO THOSE TEETH.

So Please Consider…

1️⃣NOT EVERY PREP WILL LOOK THE SAME

2️⃣BECAUSE NOT EVERY CROWN OR VENEER THAT GOES ONTO A TOOTH HAS THE SAME SHAPE OR POSITION!

3️⃣NOT EVER TOOTH HAS THE SAME ANATOMY, EXISTING FILLINGS or DISEASE!
