All Welcome
Hey friends,
Tomorrow, Saturday the 31st, marks the final service of our tenure as custodians of the ever mighty Unicorn Hotel. It is a true honour to us all to have been part of this incredible pub’s history and to get an up close and personal view of the importance such a pub can play in the lives of so many people in a community.
A pub is a place of people; of food, drink and connection. The truest maestros of any great establishment are the people behind the bars, under range hoods and on the doors and floors; welcoming, serving, smiling, facilitating the good things that we humans all need and desire. The Unicorn team of the present and of the past have always exemplified this and we are so absolutely thankful to have had their ideas, energy, talents and time, contributing to an amazing 8 years of revelry. Our sincere thanks to you Tom, Mox, Laura, Lydia, Aaron, Kiundra, Ashton, Liam, Chelvin, Lilani, Edward, Saem, Role, Holly, Howie, Monte, Robert, Ming, Jimmy, Simran, Ken and Sophia. True Unicorns all.
There is something so humbling in knowing that this pub was there before us and will certainly out live us too. We want to welcome and wish the good folks at JDA Hotels all the luck and success as they take up the reins of this mythical beast! We believe there is a little facelift planned and that these wonderful doors will be opening once again in early 2025. We can’t wait to see their reimagining of this beautiful pub.
We also want to thank all of our incredible customers (yes, even the Saturday night ratbags too). Thank you for loving our version of an Australian community pub and for sharing your birthdays, weddings, wakes, date nights, divorce drinks and dance parties with us. It has been an honour serving you all.
9 years ago, we went into this pub alongside our friends Elvis, Joe and Bruno (thank you fellas). We will walk out of this pub with full hearts and bellies, 9 years of memories and experiences that have helped us all grow so much as people, but most importantly, we walk out as friends.
Thank you Unicorn Hotel.
Oscar, Jake, Kenny and Drew x

We want to thank every staff member and collaborator and supplier from the bottom of our crazy wee hearts for being the reason this dream was lived.
We wish the good folk who are carrying the flame of the ‘Corn forward all the very best as they reimagine what a Unicorn can look like.
With a few weeks left, we hope to thank you, our punters, with an opportunity for a Last Hurrah of Unicorn schnitzels and late-night dance-floor shenanigans.
In 2017, a bunch of idiot mates were given the opportunity of a lifetime – to breathe new life into a magical beast. It has been one of the most difficult, rewarding, challenging and fulfilling experiences of our lives.
We opened the pub with a song in our hearts. A song that whispered about community, praised those forgotten 1980’s cookbooks and raged against those goddamn pokies. It’s time for the song to end, but we hope you keep humming along.
May your beers be cold, your bed be full and may all your schnittys have a wing.
Much love,
Oscar, Kenny, Jake & Drew

Our Story
THE UNICORN HOTEL IN PADDINGTON IS A PROUD BOILING BILLY OF AUSSIE WINE, BEER, MUSIC, ART, FOOD AND CONVERSATION.
The first beer was poured at the Unicorn Hotel, Paddington, in 1941, after a rebuild of the Croft’s Family Hotel, which had stood on the site since the mid 1800’s. After many years of service to the locals of Paddington, the Unicorn Hotel is now owned by a ratbag crew of mates from some of Sydney’s most iconic hospitality names Mary’s and Young Henrys. We look forward to pouring you a beer soon.
