29 years ago today- I became a professional photographer, I sold my first pic (my famous white tiger). It has been an incredible journey and I thank all who have been apart of it- you have allowed me to find direction and refine my form.

A huge thanks to my mum Anne and my sister Kathi whom have been my rock solid support upon this journey.

Mum- you always drove me around in those early days, helping me get ideas on a direction (thinking back to the 94 bushfiers which we went to the top of the hill at Mount Pritchard to view).

Sis- I still rank your black formal dress as one of my best pics ever in the Portfolio section.

Special shout out to my first ever model as dear friend Marina, without your help way back then, I would not have learnt angels, focus or techniques.

I am a Canon man through and through and though I have used others (Zenith, Olympus, Sony and Panamax, not to mention the classic Kodak and yes... Nikon too), Canon is where my loyalties lay- while Nikon has the best and clearest lenses, Canon have the faster processor, which for me is better due to the action style shots I take. I still prefer film (can even tell you which film gave the best results... Konica Baby Film with a 400 ISO and a red shift of +.4), I have embraced digital with a new zest and appreciation of sports shooting which helps me capture that one special moment (the flag in full flutter on the bridge as an A380 flies over, a bird in mid flight catching its pray or even that moment a cat jumps as a dog says hi), film never allowed me to do that because reactions were not that quick.

I have in recent years, started teaching people, while I am selective of who I teach, everyone that has had a lesson from me, has gone on to present award winning pics.

The most humbling moment of my photography career has been meeting the head of the Navantia group (the Spanish ship builders who built our Hobart and Canberra Class vessels), met him at the International Fleet review in Sydney, October 13th- 2013. My friend and Editor Filippe introduced me to him, "and this is Ja Worsley, my photographer and second Journalist", "So you're Ja, I have seen your work, I am honoured to meet you finally". It was at IFR that I got to meet Prince Harry as well, and I got that special photo of him.

I also wish to thank my good and dear friend Davo for his continued support of my work, always engaging me for his movie premieres. Always thinking of me first when it comes to needing pics of various things. Your movies are magical and I'm honoured to provide you with my services.

I really look forward to what the future has for me in this role, I know I am not finished yet- even a master can learn new things and I am far from being a master- well not that far :-)

Get home this afternoon to a wonderful surprise, wife bought me the Pluto trigger I have been eyeing off.

This trigger is used for high speed photography work such as lightning and splash drops from the rain.

I couldn't justify the price at the time, but with the extra work I have been doing lately, she said it is a worthwhile treat.

Had the chance to shoot these lovable characters today, it was loads of fun.
