Dear valued Surf Ski Storage customers,Surfskiwarehouse

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you. Through the generous support of Bruce and IPDA, we now have a life-saving defibrillator available for everyone in our facility.

The defibrillator is conveniently located inside the roller door facing the water, easily accessible to all users. Your safety is our top priority, and this donation enhances our commitment to creating a secure environment for our community.

We encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with the defibrillator’s location and usage, as it could make a significant difference in case of emergencies. Your cooperation and awareness contribute to the overall safety and well-being of our Surf Ski Storage community.

Thank you for being part of our community, and let’s continue enjoying our shared passion for surf skiing in a safe and secure environment.

RACE PREVIEW : Conditions are lining up for a Classic Shaw and Partners 20 Beaches

One week out from Race day for Australia’s oldest Ocean Race- The Shaw and Partners 20 Beaches Ocean Classic, the long range forecast is starting to line up for some awesome summer conditions with a classic North Easterly Sea breeze on the cards.

A southerly change moves through the area on Thursday morning and builds throughout the day before easing throughout Friday and the wind shifting to the east. By Saturday, conditions are expected to revert back to the classical summer sea breeze direction where competitors will enjoy an awesome downwind race from Palm Beach to Collaroy in a summer North Easter..…..well that is the script we are working off at the moment, but like all things, the weather forecast can change!

Also lining up for this iconic race is a stacked field of competitors from around the world who are all gunning to get their names etched into history on the Steve Wood and “The Yanda" Morisson trophies.

We did have some sad news during the week when Oscar Chalupsky let us know that he was unable to travel out for this years race after he had visited his doctor who informed him that his white platelets and Haemoglobin levels had reached dangerously low levels. We wish Oscar all the best for his ongoing treatment of Multiple Myeloma where we know he will continue to fight hard and win his battle, like he usually does.
Please keep sending Oscar your best wishes to help him fight this battle.

2023 sees the 29th running of this iconic race with an incredible amount of depth in both the Mens, Women’s, Youths and Masters.
With a field like this, you can see why the 20 Beaches is such a special race on the annual ocean racing calendar.

The women’s field features defending champion & two time 20B Race winner, Danielle Richards (nee McKenzie) from New Zealand who recently has been focusing all her efforts toward the Paris Olympic Games representing NZ in sprint kayaking.
D-Mak will be looking to return to the top step of the podium but will have to beat her long time rival and current World Champion, Jemma Smith from the Central Coast of NSW who is looking to match D-Mak’s number of 20 Beaches race wins.

From Spain, European Womens Champion, Judit Verges will be on the start line and will be looking to score a strong result here in Sydney as she builds up for the Shaw and Partners WA Race Week / ICF World Championship in Perth in November.

The peoples champion, Hannah Minogue will also be pushing her younger rivals hard to ensure that any mistake is punished by the experienced Ocean Racer.

Showing the strong depth of the women’s field, Ironwomen Hannah Sculley & Emily Doyle, 2022 U/21 Female champ Sasha Taurins and local charger Eliza Mannock will be all pushing their older rivals to show them who really is the queen of the 20 Beaches Ocean Classic.

The Men’s field is stacked with former 20 Beaches champions, including 6 time champion Tim Jacobs who is making yet another return to Ocean Racing. Tim most recently placed 3rd in 2019 against a stacked international field, showing that he is well and truly in the fight and is also gearing up for all the big races in Western Australia in November.

3 Times & Defending 20 Beaches Champion, Cory Hill will be looking to make it 4 titles when he lines up on the start line on Saturday as he builds into his campaign for the rest of the year, however he will have 2021 Champion, Jackson Collins pushing him the whole way. Jackson has also been focusing on his Sprint Kayak Racing on the way to the Paris Olympics, so it is great to see him back on the start line.
Tom Norton is always a threat at this race and he will be looking for his first 20 Beaches title on Saturday.

Local charger, Oscar Jones has been in cracking form and recently took out “The Chucky” race here in Sydney, beating Hill and Norton. Oscar has been training with Tim Jacobs in Sydney and his racing has moved to a new level, so he will be definitely one to watch.

Mackenzie Hynard who placed 3rd at the World Championships in 2022 is coming back from injury but will be on the startline on Saturday as he builds into his campaign to be ready for the Shaw and Partners WA Race Week/ ICF World Championship in Western Australia in November.

Other local paddlers who will features in the top group include last years U/21 winner, Harrison Taurins, evergreen Mitch Coffey, Ben Constable & Nathan Haythorpe.

With more than 65% of the field made up of masters (40+), the battles within each division is going to be intense. Characters such as Dean Gardiner, Bruce Hopkins, John Bush, Paul Keating and a host of others will be battling it out for the overall titles in their division.

Further race day information will be available on Friday afternoon before the race where a decision will be made on the course direction. To keep up to date, tune in to the Shaw and Partners 20 Beaches page as well as the event website- www.20beaches.com.au
