🪽 For my 69th birthday, I choreographed and performed this ballet piece as a tribute to the beautiful phenomenon of fireflies.

✨ At night during mating season, they shine by bioluminescence in the dark. Sadly their numbers are declining due to changing climate patterns, toxic farming and the use of pesticides and herbicides, artificial light at night, and deforestation.

Fireflies are truly one of nature’s wonders to behold. Since they are a barometer for the health of our wild places, we really need to take care of our woodland and forests.

This piece was recorded at Brand X Studios in Sydney which is a City of Sydney-supported arts venue in the middle of the central business district.
