WESTMEAD 4th AT EMERGENCY MEDICAL CHALLENGE
Hi all, I’m Angus, a Y2 med student at Westmead and dressed as Gru in the 1st pic.
I’ll be joining Dr. Coggins driving this page. I’m excited to tell you that we have successfully reestablished a weekly student-led Sim Club and to post updates of what we are getting up to!
3 weeks ago, the Westmead team of 8 students competed against USYD’s other teaching hospitals in the annual Emergency Medical Challenge (EMC) on the Camperdown campus. We placed 4th of 7 but importantly clinched best dressed for our minion’s theme ✨.
If you’re interested in joining our Sim Club, please join our WhatsApp group here: https://chat.whatsapp.com/JABOZ6WcPRwJ5O2XivVatW. We meet weekly on Wednesdays or Thursday from 4pm in K6.

Webinar -AED CPR - Heart of the Nation - REPLAY PAGE 31st July 2024
Hi all
During a Wiggles performance to raise money for the Black Summer Bushfire Relief, Greg Page (original yellow Wiggle) suffered a Sudden Cardiac Arrest on stage.
It was a moment that could have ended in tragedy, but for the swift actions of crew members and fans in the audience that night. They saved Greg’s life thanks to their quick response - using CPR and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
WiSE has partnered with Greg who is now the CEO of a charity called Heart of the Nation, to raise awareness about the crucial role bystanders play in using an AED.
Tonight, Wednesday 31st July at 7:30pm we are hosting a FREE online event where Dr Liz Swinburn and Dr Pankaj Arora along with Greg Page will:
- Show you how to use an AED and perform CPR
- Provide practical advice on how you can assist as a bystander.
- Discuss the signs and symptoms you need to look out for
- Find out how to locate your nearest AED.
Plus you'll have the opportunity to ask questions to our panellists.
Register now for this FREE event.
If you are busy tonight but are interested in attending please register and we will send you the replay after the event.
