Yesterday the team had a much needed day out at for our TCW Golf Day! A great day of team building and fun with our crew, with Senior Account Manager Michael Hardy taking the overall hold for the rounds!

Today is a landmark day for our Sales Executive Alex Walter who is celebrating 10 years at TCW Furniture. It is also exactly 50 years since Alex was introduced to the furniture industry as a student working in a summer job for a European Import company in Israel selling pieces which are now Mid-Century classics. So, began a career working with some of the world’s renowned furniture house including FRITZ HANSEN, B&B Italia, Cassina, UniFor, Memphis, and Vitra as well as a role in re-introducing Herman Miller to Australia in the 1980’s.

It’s no surprise that Alex is one of our industry’s stalwarts who has been supporting the architecture and design industry with a breadth of experience, knowledge and passion for design. Design & furniture isn’t Alex’s only love, with a 29-year career in music as a singer with the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, including performances at the Albert and Festival Halls in London.

Alex’s greatest advice: “Take the time to learn about the detail in the furniture pieces, why they were designed and how they are made. There is so much to appreciate in piece of furniture.”

When we asked about one of Alex’s favourite TCW pieces; “the Badminton Chair, by ACTIU as it reminds me of the classic Joe Colombo pieces of the 1970’s, as featured in some of my favourite James Bond and Austin Powers movies!”.

After many months of isolation, we remain grateful to the community we have in this industry. It was wonderful to see everyone, and we can’t wait to see everyone again soon!

An extra big thank you to Max Thomson, Gerry Heaton, Jessica Margiotta, Susie Bryden and Cornelius Hart for participating as our panellists for yesterday’s debate on whether or not “The impact of COVID19 on workplace design will be forgotten within the year”. As heated as it as got (-- all in good fun!) the audience was happy to see the two teams tie!
