2.1 million people cut off from the world. In it’s darkest night of the last 21 days, Gaza facing the cruelest crimes against humanity in history. This is not self defence, it is genocide, it is ethnic cleansing, it is barbarism.

Since the Nakba in 1948, resistance in Palestine against Israeli settlers has been articulated in all sorts of ways. For as long as Palestinians have experienced inter-generational pain, misery and chaos, the never-ending suffering has been channelled to fuel an irritating need to vent. It’s the catalyst behind generations’ strong will to not only speak but to also put pen to paper.

Our families in Gaza have been subjected to the worst violence ever. Is*ael strikes again for the last 6 days and the world is silent. 2.4 Palestinian in Gaza is facing starvation and death by isra*el. Gaza civilians have been targeted and besieged for the last 15 years. Justice for Palestine is overdue and it has to be done now!
We all humans have an obligation to stand with Palestinian civilians and spread the truth.

Carawyeh/ mughli / caraway pudding !

Inspired by .rubys to satisfy my craving for mughli /Caraway pudding.
Delicious and warming sweet that can make your taste buds dance from the cinnamon, caraway spice and that nutty crunch 😋😋
Ingredients:
1cup ground rice
7 cup of water
1/12 cup of sugar or to your taste
3 tbs ground cinnamon
3 tbs ground caraway
Spiced can be adjusted to liking

Method:
Put all ingredients in a heavy base pot on medium heat stirring frequently to avoid sticky to bottom of pot.
Boil on slow heat after start of boiling with frequent stirring till thickened. Might take about 45min or more depending on rice.
Pour in cups or bowls of your choice and serve with raw nuts as you wish.

This dessert not known to us Palestinian as much as known in Lebanon and Syria. Mughli pudding served to welcome the birth of a baby.

Jerusalem kaak or Kaak alquds, lot’s of memories, homesickness and the love to everything comes with it. Each bite takes me back to the streets of the old city, sounds of shod doors opening, morning greeting of neighbours, voices of children in the alleyway.
This morning made load of Kaak and I couldn’t be happier eating them with best combination of zaatar and zeit, falafel. Labneh…etc

Ramadan Mubarak to all those who celebrate! Parents & students are cordially invited to our first Ramadan Iftar (Dinner) on the 28th of April. All families are welcome. Iftar literally translates to “breaking fast” and during Ramadan, it’s the time Muslims break their fast, known as maghreb (sunset). Iftar embodies the spirit of Ramadan where you give charity and feed those less fortunate. The tradition is underpinned by the cultural and universal tradition of food being a medium that has the capacity to promote cultural understanding and as a way of making contact with other cultures. As a school, we are holding the dinner with the intention to connect with our community.
