🌍 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 🌍

30 July marks the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This year's international theme is "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking". Trafficking in persons is a global issue, including right here in Australia.

Children like Jasmine are being trafficked, often for child marriage, labour, and other forms of slavery and servitude. Recognising the signs and knowing how to respond can make all the difference.

Today on the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade, we honour and remember those who suffered and died at the hands of the brutal slavery system.

While the slave ships and chains of the past may be gone, slavery continues to exist today, with the International Labour Organization estimates that affects more than 50 million people worldwide.

To mark Day and to raise awareness of modern slavery, we’re holding our Human Mart pop-up exhibition tomorrow.

VISIT US
Tuesday 26 March
8:00 am – 1:30 pm
International Tower 3, South Lobby, Barangaroo Sydney

HUMAN MART isn't your ordinary supermarket – nothing is for sale. Instead, each 'product' tells a true story of modern slavery right here in Australia.
Through the unsettling juxtaposition of people as products, Human Mart aims to shed light on the inherent injustice in the commodification of human beings. By showcasing what modern slavery looks like, it urges us to confront the issue and take action.

Shopping ethically is a great way to support survivors and victims of modern slavery, but what does this mean? Millions of people are enslaved globally and are forced to produce goods under exploitative conditions.
By choosing ethically produced gifts this festive season, we can help prevent this terrible exploitation.
