Our Story
In celebration of Australia's bicentennial in 1988, Doug and Greta Moran and family established the Moran Arts Foundation, aiming to foster portraiture skills in painting. Since 2007, the Foundation has also been a strong supporter of excellence in photography.
For over three decades, the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize has encouraged both excellence and creativity in contemporary Australian portraiture. Currently with an annual first prize of $150,000, the prize is an important part of Australia's arts calendar.
The Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize is a national competition that awards and promotes Australian contemporary photography by inviting photographic entries that interpret living in Australia.
Free School Photography Workshops introduce the joys of photography to school children at 150 schools around Australia each year.
In a world focused on celebrity, The Moran Prizes are about the greatness in every Australian.
