The Brigade played host to the travelling volunteers of the BIG LIFT group last night. This group are a team of young Uni Students from Sydney travelling through Country NSW volunteering doing all sorts or work in the little communities they stop in.
There are between 35 to 40 of these young ones that will dig in and get their hands dirty for 4hrs on Wed morning around Ulmarra.
Have to say mingling with these young ones over a great dinner put on by the Ulmarra crew our country's future looks pretty good.
A BIG thankyou from the Ulmarra community, a big thankyou from the Ulmarra crew and a big thankyou to our local historian Kevin Watkins for giving our young visitors a quick rundown of the history of Ulmarra as well.
Community engagement at its best. It was a great night.
Massive thank you to Buzz and Des from the Kandos community! We would also like to extend that to other community members. We felt so welcomed and had such a blast! 💙🤍
The Big Lift White Bus planted 🌱 200 trees, did mulching on the railway, and work at the museum.
A massive thank you to the wonderful Carcoar community for welcoming us back! 💙🤍
Our last visit was in 2022 and we were so excited to see this beautiful town again.
✊ Blue Bus would like to give another round of yeah buddy’s to Nick and family, Brian, Kathy and Allan and community. We all enjoyed such hearty meals and had so much fun during the town tour and volunteering at Carcoar Public School, Museum and the Railway.
🚌 The Big Lift 🚌
A big thank you to The Big Lift Blue Bus for staying at CPS over the weekend!
The Big Lift is a student-run volunteering organisation at The University of Technology Sydney. Founded in 2010 on the philosophy of 'paying it forward', a platform for students to volunteer and engage deeply with local and regional communities.
This is our second visit from The Big Lift and we love having them at our school. The 37 volunteers completed a list of jobs, not only for us, but for our community. They have moved our garden beds ready for Term 3 outdoor learning, cleaned up around our grounds and did some heavy lifting into the skip bins. Some went to Stoke Lane Museum, while others helped out at the Train Station. A big thank you to Australian Native Landscapes ANL for their donation of soil for our gardens!
A big thank you to our staff helpers, especially Mr B’s mum for providing delicious food for our volunteers and giving up their first weekend of holidays. Another big thank you to our wonderful P&C for paying for the cost of food supplies.
Grateful Staff | CPS
A bunch of fine young people have arrived in our district in readiness for giving a Big Lift to Kandos and Rylstone tomorrow.
Thank you to our TBLifters that volunteered at our Service Project last Friday. You all did an amazing job preparing lunch for the Asylum Seekers Center at Newtown! 🥘
Curious about what the menu was? Curry and rice, a salad mix and fruit custard for dessert- how delicious! 🍚🥗
Shoutout to our CREW Mudra 💗 for organising this Service Project! (And deciding the food menu)
‘Blue Bus Part 1,’ produced by Jason Dunn.
Jason was one of our Communications Interns from the 2023 TBL Winter Trip. His media piece gives us insight into each of the towns we visited and the stories within it. This video wonderfully embodies some of the core values of TBL!
- Community with Towns ❤️
- City and Regional Relationships 👥
So, what are TBL Communications Internships?
We’re looking for 2 videographers and 2 writers/journalists to capture special TBL memories on our Winter Trip. TBL Communications Internships are open to anyone at UTS with a passion for videography or writing.

Two weekends ago, TBL had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at Tallong😊 Through joint efforts we managed to w**d garden beds, 🌱 do some planting and get rid of an enormous mulch pile. Gooo TBLifters! 💪
Special thank you to all volunteers of Tallong community, Chrissy and the team for giving us such a warm welcome and providing us with such delicious meals. 🥰And shout out to our Operations Director, Immy for organising this Microlift! 💙🤍

We wanted to share some silly superlatives for you to get to know us 🤭
Thank you to everyone who came to Clean Up Australia Day!! 👏🤩
Some of us were in kayaks cleaning the waterways, others in parks with some doggy doodoo, while another group ventured along the riverside to pick up rubbish washed up along the shore.
Some interesting finds included two halves of a wheel 🛞 and a geocache 🧭 we found accidentally!
Thank you to Wendy and the Yaralla Sea Scouts Team for having us, as well as our very own CREW Pragya for organising this service project. ❤️
Hi everyone!! 👋💪
If you’ve ever wanted to know what 💙🤍 TBL is, what work we do or where we go, we’ve created a TBL explainer just for you!
