Did you know that bamboo charcoal outperforms silk, cotton, and microfibre in absorbing moisture (and drying quicker)? The Beaumont Music Bamboo Flute Swabs will keep your flute clean and your pads dry and look great while doing it! đ€© . . . . #flute #flauta #flĂ»te #flöte #flutist #flautist #flutesandflutists
Many flutists would be familiar with ergonomic devices for their right hand, but what about the left hand? đđœThe Fingerport (also known as a Pinkieport) is interchangeable! It can provide support for your right-hand thumb but can also be used for your left-hand index finger or to rest your pinky when not in use (on inline-G flutes only). Do you play with a Fingerport? đ§ . . . . #flute #flauta #flĂ»te #flöte #flutist #flautist #flutesandflutists
đšPEARL FLUTES NOW AVAILABLEđš We are excited to announce that we now stock the full range of flutes from Pearl Flutes! Pearl was founded in 1946 in Japan by Katsumi Yanagisawa. Originally manufacturing music stands and accessories, the company's rapid growth and the emergence of musical instrument markets led Pearl to establish its first flute factory in 1968. They have been making high-quality flutes â student, step-up and professional â for nearly 60 years. đ€© The Quantz Series offers exceptional intermediate and step-up flutes, with the 505, 665, and 765 now available in store! This series is driven by "ingenuity, innovation, and diversity," and aims to provide aspiring flute players with a unique playing experience. As you progress through the series, open holes and more sterling silver are added to keep up with the growing needs of the keen flute student. Stay tuned for another VERY special announcement later this week!đ . . . . #flute #flauta #flĂ»te #flöte #flutist #flautist #flutesandflutists #pearlflute

Notice anything unusual about this flute? If you noticed it was missing a G# hole on the back, you are right! But this isn't a manufacturing issue or error â this flute has an open G# key. đŻ Most flutes today are made with a closed G#, popularised by French flute makers in the mid to late 1800s. Though it is the most common system, closed G# does present some mechanical and ergonomic issues. For example, the G# fingering is illogical when you consider that, in the bottom and middle registers, adding a finger makes a lower pitch - adding the G# key to G makes the pitch higher. The strength, colour and stability of top E is also an issue as the G# hole stays open, requiring a split-E mechanism to rectify it. The open G# key was a part of Theobald Böhm's original design, conveying his distaste for the closed system in a letter to Wilhelm Popp in 1865: "You were right to recommend a flute from me and not from Lot in Paris, because my completely logical key system was only made worse... by the first flautist Dorus in Paris who made a so-called improvement by a closed G sharp key."đ Though not common, there are some flutists who use the open system, including flute extraordinaire Denis Bouriakov who moved to the open system when borrowing his first Altus flute from William Bennett. Do you play on an open G# flute? đ” . . . . #flute #flauta #flĂ»te #flöte #flutist #flautist #flutesandflutists
To finish off our Di Zhao Week, we're excited to present to you - the DZ-401! This is a model we've never had before, and it only just arrived with the very latest shipment. Perfect timing! This intermediate flute features a silver-plated headjoint with a sterling silver riser, along with a B foot, open holes and split-E mechanism. But don't be fooled by the 'intermediate' label! This is a lot of flute for the money. Don't believe us? Have a listen to Mark playing the intro of Paganini's Caprice No. 11 on the DZ-401 below â you be the judge. This concludes our Di Zhao Flutes Week! What has been your favourite Di Zhao instrument featured this week? (We will be featuring the alto and bass flutes at some point also. They're just never in stock long enough for us to snap some photosâŠ) . . . . #flute #flauta #flĂ»te #flöte #flutist #flautist #flutesandflutists #dizhaoflute

Gâday folks, Mark here. Itâs been a while since I last posted on our social media accounts (BIG thank you to Matthew Bottaro for taking care of them these last few months!). Itâs been even longer since I last made a video. Truth is, itâs been hard to find time to make a video, let alone even getting into shape to perform in front of the camera. Tonight was the first time in a very long time that I managed to scrape together more than 10 minutes to âpracticeâ, so I thought it was appropriate to celebrate by recording my efforts. Featured here is a gorgeous Muramatsu 9K flute. Chris just finished working on it for a client who had some uniquely specific requests, which we were more than happy to oblige. I could really tell how much care he put into this flute, because it is now such a joy to play on and singing beautifully. It was partly what inspired me to make this recording, but please excuse the quality and the âup the noseâ angle, it was all a bit spontaneous! I might consider doing more of these in the future though, since it was so quick and easy, so please do let me know if it was a good idea or not! As I said to our work experience student last week (who would like to have a career playing in an orchestra), it is truly a privilege to work in a job that lets you play music.
