A Good Samaritan!!

Today I went to the green grocers to purchase greens (food) for my chicken soup. I went along picking up cabbage, broccoli, bok chow and okra. Green beans were a bit expensive, so I let them be. However I needed potatoes. Already have Irish potato at home so had a look at the sweet potato. There was a bag of skinny sweet potatoes and loose ones. Picked up 2 reasonable sized sweet potatoes and the bag to ask the cashier the price of both. That way I could decide which was the better buy.

The cashier informed me the 2 potatoes were almost the same price as the bag of skinny potatoes. I thought of the time I would spend peeling and decided on the 2 potatoes instead of the skinny ones in the bag.

Unexpectedly the person behind me in the queue offered to pay for the skinny potatoes for me. I thanked her and said I would leave it.

To my surprise she came running out of the green grocers looking for me with the bag of skinny potatoes in her hand. She had purchased it for me.

I felt so blessed!! She insisted I take the bag, so am home with this bag of skinny potatoes. With this gift I will make time to peel them and be thankful for the many kind people in the world.

Thanks Good Samaritan!!

We invite you to explore these links showcasing "Golden Coconut" and "Serenity," two stunning artworks by Shaun Reid available through Jamaican Products.

Shaun Reid's artistic journey commenced at the tender age of 5, when he began decorating the walls of his home. A bold move that met with typical parental disapproval in a Jamaican household.

Reid prefers acrylics for their quick-drying properties, although he values the allure and richness of oils. Read more about Reid at: https://www.jamaicanproducts.com.au/2024/09/25/jamaica-in-art3/

What’s for Dinner?

Our recommendation during this period of Lent and with little time to get dinner ready, is ‘Shake and Panfry’ fish fillet. My preference is for jerk seasoning powder coated salmon fillet. Experience the exotic pimento flavour and aroma.

Dog Music

The Most Soothing Music for Dogs Is NOT Classical, but Reggae.

Help your canine friend unwind the next time they start to pant and pace during a thunderstorm or separation anxiety is about to set in as you plan to leave for a day or so. Consider turning on some music. But not just any music.

Dogs prefer the sounds of reggae or soft rock more than any other genre.

Independence in Jamaica

In recognising Jamaica’s independence from the British 1962, Jamaican Products must acknowledge Maroon peace agreements with the British, the first of which was signed in 1739.

Did you know in 1796 some Maroons were deported from Jamaica and in 2005 UNESCO declared music of the Moore Town Maroons as a ‘Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity’?
