🔥 ROUND TWELVE 🔥
🔺The Swans headed to Wolseley Park for the final regular season match as the hosted their ladies day. A wet week saw a sodden pitch, with a solid breeze favouring the Namoi end.
▫️The Swans ladies suffered some late outs, and Bulldogs had the benefit of the wind first. This saw them on top with field position but they were kept honest by a determined Swans defence. After half time the Bulldogs leant players and balanced the contest, the fourth quarter marked by a goal to birthday girl Jayda De Groot. There were slick passages in the effort from the Swans, better than a 50 point loss would indicate.
👉🏼Final score 8.9 (57) - 1.1 (7).
best went to Jayda DeGroot and Stor-mate players player went to another young gun, Jess Pallot. Captains Award went to Sophie Weekes, Miren Davies scored the coaches award and Alex Anderson gained herself the Green Ant 🐜
🔺The men’s game was a preliminary final preview, and whilst largely a dead rubber started as a keen contest. The Bulldogs made good use of the wind and looked on top early, before the Swans took control through the second quarter to build a decent lead in a low scoring affair to half time. Matching motors through the third, the Swans kicked away in an open fourth quarter to take a 29 point win, but some lessons to make sure the Dogs are not taken lightly in a week’s time.
👉🏼Final score 7.5 (47) - 11.10 (76).
best and player’s player both went to Wyatt Roberts, with special mention to a strong defensive effort from Liam Bramley and six goals to Lachlan Bennetts.
Daniel Pizarro took the Green Ant 🐜
💥Looming is a big weekend for football in Tamworth, with the Swans hosting senior Preliminary Finals this Saturday and the Tamworth Roosters winning rights to host the junior Grand Finals on Sunday.
Also a shout out to the Tamworth Thunderbolts on the verge of something special with their Waratah League finals this weekend.

⏰ Women from 12.00pm
⏰ Men from 2.00pm
See you there Swannies 👋🏼
🔺With finals looming, the Swans made their second trip to Inverell to take on the on a warm winters day.
▫️A series of unfortunate circumstances saw the ladies travel with just a neat dozen, but in spirit of Ladies Day the Saints rotated players through red and white to boost our numbers. With some players stepping up into new positions, the Saints got a jump on our ladies in the first quarter, but the rest of the match was relatively even as the Swans showed plenty of resolve to push the Saints to the end. Thanks to the Saints not just for lending players, but for having a proper crack for us when crossing over.
👉🏼Final score 12.12 (84) - 6.8 (44).
⭐️ best and Stor-Mate players player went to Anna George, Laura Goodwin won the captains award and Genevieve Coote scored the Green Ant 🐜
🔺The men’s game was mathematically to decide the minor premiership, and started as a table topping clash should. The Saints made better use of their early attacking chances in a fairly even first period, then got a roll on through the second quarter to take a clear advantage into half time. The Swans defence were good through the second half, but the run of the Saints with their tails up proved too much, the hosts running out decisive victors by 81 points.
👉🏼Final score 16.16 (112) - 4.7 (31).
📌 best and player’s player was Rex Quail.
Stephen Fairless scored the green ant 🐜

〰️ ROUND TEN 〰️
☀️ A beautiful winters days set a scene at No 1 for Old Bloods day, as the Swans looked to close out both the Abbott-George and Billy Holder Cups for 2024 🏆
🔺The Swans women started strongly, but couldn’t fully capitalise with a string of behinds in the first quarter. An upbeat Kangaroos came out in the second term, trading goals with the Swans and earning themselves a share of time in the lead.
With the sniff of an upset, the Kangaroos battled hard through a willing second half, but the Swans benefit of a bench probably told late as they ran out 13 point victors in a good game of football.
👉🏼 Final score 4.10 (34) - 3.3 (21).
best and Stor-mate player’s player was Olivia Fanning.
Alex Anderson won the captain’s award, and Isabella Stefanish a green 🐜
▫️The men’s game started as the women’s finished, a tough contest in the centre, with the Swans efficiency inside 50 the difference on the scoreboard. A scoring flurry in the second saw the Swans kick 9 goals to put the contest to bed, but the Kangaroos kept coming through the second half to push the Swans to the end in a 105 point win.
👉🏼 Final score 25.9 (159) - 8.6 (54).
best was Kaleb Crowhurst with a 9 goal bag.
player’s player went to Nick Fisher.
Marty Ward took the green ant 🐜
🚗 This weekend we travel to Inverell in two big clashes against the Saints, with just two games to go until finals.
🍻 Shout out the former players who came along, and joined in the song after the men’s victory

⚡️ 2024 REP ROUND ⚡️
🔹Saturday saw the women’s representative team travel to Newcastle to take on at the home of the Cardiff Hawks. A wind that could blow a dog off a chain made for some tough conditions for footy, compounded by a spinkling of rain as the game started.
🔸The AFLNW got off to a brilliant start with an early goal, before the wind saw the game become a grinding contest. The AFLNW ladies put in a strong showing, brave when they needed to be in a physical game and classy when space and conditions allowed. In control for much of the afternoon but never with a really comfortable lead, the AFLNW forged a memorable victory 4.2 (26) to 1.1 (7).
🔹Melanie Young from the marked the day with a four goal haul. Laura Ewington the was named best for AFLNW.
✨ Our seven Swans did us proud, each with strong performances. Congratulations to Alex Anderson, Shelby Davidson, Olivia Fanning, Sarah Pannowitz, Lua Roser, Sophie Weekes and Emmelene White.
❤️🤍🔥🦢

📍The game starts at 12.45pm at Pasterfield Sports Complex, Cameron Park.
📌 ROUND EIGHT
🔺A soggy start to July saw the third derby of the season moved to Riverside 5, which was turned out in reasonable nick for a fine but cool day. Outs for both clubs across both games saw them played with restricted numbers, that worked out okay on the back oval’s smaller confines.
The Swans women took a little to warm into their match, but once they did their run proved too much for a Roos team that showed more fight than the score reflected. A five goal second quarter set the red and white on their way, with some very positive phases of play looking towards the pointy end of the season.
👉🏼Final score 1.2 (8) to 13.15 (93).
▫️ best was Lua Roser.
Anna George was a clear winner of the Stor-mate player’s player.
The captain’s award went to Sophie Weekes. No green ant nominations were received.
🔺The men were keen to win back the Billy Holder Cup, and were ruthless in their direct forward entries on the smaller ground. This opened up a nine goal lead part way through the second quarter, when the game was significantly delayed due to a serious Kangaroos injury and wait for an Ambulance. The game was resumed and played out to half time to secure a result, time called at that stage due to the delay.
👉🏼Final score 0.3 (3) to 13.8 (86).
▫️ best was Nick Fisher.
The player’s player was shared by Ben Berger and Lewis Murray.
Toby Lloyd maintained his love affair with the Green Ant 🐜
📍 This weekend is a bye as our representative women head to Newcastle to take on AFL North Coast. After that we trek to Wolseley Oval for the first time this year to be hosted by the in round 9 on July 27.
📣 Reminder our next (and last) home game is Old Bloods Day on August 3.

💃🏼 ROUND SEVEN 💃🏼
🔺The Swans hosted the for Ladies Day at No 1 Oval, a fine winters morning deferring to strong winds that favoured the pool end as the football kicked off.
💓The Saints ladies had that advantage first, and pressed it from the start, skipping out to a four goal lead at the first change. The wind assisted the Swans in balancing the contest, working hard to drag themselves back into the contest but finding clean ball movement and connection across the ground difficult. The Saints extended their advantage in the third quarter with the wind, but the Swans refused to quit after the change, Jess Pallot kicking her second goal as the Swans ran out the match strongly to win the final term.
👉🏼Final score 2.2 (14) to 12.6 (78).
▫️ best went to Miren Davies. Stor-mate player’s player was shared between Jess Pallot and Lua Roser.
Captain’s Award went to Alex Anderson, whilst Genevieve Coote copped a headache along with a Green Ant 🐜
🔺The men’s was a top of the table clash, the winner taking pole position for a minor premiership and Grand Final hosting rights, and it opened according to script. The Saints had the wind and made the best of a tightly contested first quarter, before the advantage flipped and the Swans fought back in the second to level the scores at half time. The Swans lost a player in the third quarter, the Saints kicking away with the advantage of the wind and an extra player to take a clear advantage into the final term. Both teams traded blows early before a late Swans charge that fell just seven points short, the Saints deserving winners in a hotly contested game that could have fallen either way.
👉🏼Final score 14.8 (92) to 15.9 (99).
▫️ best went to Nick Fisher, along with the player’s player, just ahead of Ben Berger in his 50th game for the Swans. Green ant was well deserved by Lachlan Bennetts 🐜
🎤 This weekend we’re back at No.1 Oval, hosted by the in our third clash of the season. The Swans hoping to secure both the Abbott-George and Billy Holder Cups. All the action kicks off with the women from 12pm 🏆
📌 FIFTY GAMES
When Ben Berger takes to the field tomorrow, it will be his 50th appearance for the Tamworth Swans. Joining us from the at the start of the 2020 season, Ben has been a key part of the Swans’ resurgence since that time. Quickly establishing himself as a reliable member of the starting team with a no fuss, industrious approach to his football, Ben’s work ethic and effective ball use has seen him become central to our midfield, and earned him a place in our men’s leadership group. His determined, hard but fair game day manner typifies who we want to be in red and white. A good footy player, a great bloke.
Congratulations Ben, we wish you all the best for a big day on number 50.

⚡️PLAYING CATCH UP⚡️
🔺Round 4.2 saw much kinder conditions than the original, as the Swans hosted the to catch up previously washed out games.
The Bulldogs were first into gear in the women’s match, opening up an ominous three goal lead to half time. The Swans held themselves in the contest, and lifted into the third period to claw back some of that deficit. An even final term saw the Swans not able to take advantage of scoring opportunities, the Bulldogs running out winners by 15 points in a tight contest.
👉🏼Final score 1.1 (7) to 3.4 (22).
▫️ best was Daisy George.
-mate player’s player went to Shelby Davidson. Captains award well earnt by Anna George and Miren Davis scored the Green Ant 🐜
🔺The Swans were straight on the fly in the men’s game, clinical work in the forward 50 seeing them take an eleven goal lead into the long break. The scoreline was a shade flattering, proven when the Bulldogs were able to make use of their attacking entries in the third quarter before the Swans kicked away again the fourth for a solid 94 point win. The end margain was not truly reflective of the competitiveness of the visitors.
👉🏼Final score 19.13 (127) to 4.9 (33).
▫️ best was Nick Fisher.
player’s player was Toby Lloyd. Eli Allan and Toby Lloyd scored a joint Green Ant 🛁🐜

🌈 PRIDE ROUND 🌈
❤️A fine morning gave way to some welcome cloud cover for AFLNW Pride Round, as the Swans hosted the in the second of four derbies for 2024.
🧡The women started with a blast, booting seven goals in a dominant first quarter. The Kangaroos showed real resolve through the middle of the game, which proved a tough contest before the Swans ran away again in the fourth. There were some very impressive passages from the Swans, but the Kangaroos were much better than the 105 point deficit suggests.
👉🏼Final score 16.16 (112) - 1.1 (7).
💛 best went to Laura Goodwin.
Stor-Mate Player’s Player was well earnt by Jayda De Groot. Issy Stefanish took the Captain’s Award, and Liv Fanning and Shelby Davidson shared the Green Ant 🐜
💚The Swans men were also quick out of the blocks, an early goal setting the tone for a first half shoot out that saw the red and white looking to have control with a 25 point lead at the long break.
💙The Kangaroos refused to concede the contest, fighting back in the third and looking set in the fourth quarter to really push the Swans. Some late goals saw the Swans skip away for a 35 point victory.
👉🏼Final score 15.10 (100) - 9.11 (65).
💜 best and a clear Player’s Player winner was Nick Fisher.
Toby Lloyd took another Green Ant 🐜 before throwing in an early nomination for a three-peat.
✨ Thanks again to .pride for their involvement in the lead up to and on match day to mark Pride Round 🏳️🌈

⚡️ ROUND FIVE ⚡️
🔺A strong band of Swans made the trip north to face the at Varley Oval, confident to make a true contest of the Kevin Pay Shield. The sunny welcome was a bit of a fibber, with a cool steady breeze that made the northern goal the distinct scoring end for both games.
▫️The women kicked off a competitive first quarter, the Saints making good use of the wind advantage, before the Swans returned the favour in the second to go to the main break right in the contest. The Saints clicked up a gear with a six goal third term onslaught, but the Swans battled away to even the last quarter, losing no admirers in a 66 point defeat.
👉🏼Final score Saints 12.15 (87) - Swans 3.3 (21).
❤️🩹Massive shout out to Mel Watson for taking care of skipper Madison Sharp who suffered a nasty finger injury.
best was Lua Roser
Stor-Mate Player’s Player went to Miren Davies
Shelby Davidson won the (vice) Captain’s Award, and Clare Richardson put herself in the frame for a double in stealing the Green Ant 🐜
🔺The men’s game opened in the manner expected, but the Saints with the scoring end took hold shortly after to open a four goal lead. The Swans lifted into the second quarter to reel back some of that lead, but the Saints remained in control and flexed that when once again running with the breeze in the third. The Swans finished the game off with some gusto, but the contest was gone and the Saints were clearly the better team on the day, running out victors by 50 points.
👉🏼Final score Saints 12.14 (86) - Swans 5.6 (36).
best was Wyatt Roberts
Player’s Player went to Henry George
Toby Lloyd took the Green Ant 🐜
