FLOAT THERAPY .cave.idalia š§š½āāļø
Who has tried this before?
Float tanks have up to 400kg of Epsom Salts in a pool that enables your body to be completely buoyant while at rest.
By eliminating the forces of gravity pulling on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, you can effortlessly relieve pain, relax, recover, and improve sleep in this unique state.
We often suggest float therapy for the following:
- Stress; to reduce cortisol and improve nervous system regulation.
- Improve sleep patterns; (particularly in shift workers) to improve sleep quality and circadian rhythm.
- Pre, or post intense activity periods or for athletes throughout a heavy training regime to improve muscle recovery.
Or, just for a bit of self care and āmeā time.
A very gentle, non invasive way to allow some relaxation into your schedule.
If youāve tried float therapy before, let us know what you think!

Chief Protein Bars šŖš¼
We are often asked which is the best ābarā on the market and we canāt recommend Chief, enough.
The ingredients are clean, very low in sugars and contain genuine protein that is very easy to digest and doesnāt have an artificial flavor.
Great to have handy as a quick, clean option that will keep you feeling satisfied without a blood sugar drop.
These bars were purchased locally from , if not can be found in some local Coles & Woolworths too.
Let us know what you think!
Clinic looked a little different this week š
Maggie spent some time off with family in the Tablelands and Shae has been enjoying beach sunsets in Bowen.
Our patients are often surprised when we genuinely prescribe ārestā as part of their treatment. Donāt forget the importance of resetting your battery and routine, to allow better cortisol regulation and immune support.
Resting can be as simple as taking one day a little slower, booking a massage or taking some well deserved time off.
If you get to enjoy the long weekend, be sure to make some time for you.
We cant wait to see you all in clinic this week. Check out online bookings for last minute appointments š«

What a beautiful time of year āØ
Itās the perfect time to work on your morning routine.
Seeing the sunrise enables a healthier circadian rhythm and sleep pattern, which is vital for glucose regulation and mood stability.
We always focus on the importance of resistance / strength training for muscle quality, but donāt deny the significance of increasing overall movement and cardio through a gentle walk, or jog.
Enjoy time on our own, or connect with friends and loved ones.
Who else has been taking advantage of these stunning sunrises? šš½āāļø
YUKA app
We have received a lot of positive feedback after our recent newsletterās suggestion, and wanted to make sure no one else missed out!
YUKA, is an app where you can scan food and beauty products that identifies harmful ingredients, toxins and chemicals that are included in those products.
A great, quick addition you can add to your shopping trips to ensure you are always choosing the best quality (as much as possible).
We love it - who else already uses Yuka? š„
Small changes matter.... in this chat with Lead.Love.Leap with Kylie Bartlett we discussed how implementing sustainable changes can reap great rewards towards better health and how choosing your HARD daily feels challenging in the moment but is far easier than overcoming a BIGGER health complication later in life. It also reminds us of the importance of viewing our health holistically to achieve true wellness.
Make an effort to buy fresh, local and in season produce.
We know time gets away from us, and convenience can often prevail. However, if you can, try once a month to get to a local market for your fresh produce.
The taste, quality and freshness is remarkable š„¦
Another big week at Maree Health!
Maggie had the privilege to observe Dr. Stephen Fairley completing colonoscopies, endoscopies and faecal transplantation.
Maggie is working with Dr. Fairley for patients receiving f***l transplantation to better their overall health with focus on correct nutrition, GUT health and microbiome balance.
Faecal transplantation focuses on changing the entire microbiome of the digestive tract, and is proving to have great success for various conditions.
We are currently recruiting participants for a new faecal transplant trial, for those who have clinically diagnosed Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
If this interests you, please email Maggie directly for further information; [email protected]
A day spent learning, is a great day spent š«
IV DRIP āØ
We recently met Zoe from who offers Drip IV services to Charters Towers and Townsville. We find this can be a fantastic addition if you need further assistance, especially coming into cold & flu season.
We canāt recommend enough!
BEFORE & AFTER
A beautiful case study of late.
A young woman presented to Maggie with; acne, bowel urgency, digestive discomfort (bloating, cramping) and irregular motions.
After thorough analysis, it was advised conventional treatment had not worked - so we had to look deeper.
The strong connection between acne and digestive upset led to investigation of her bowel, and it was identified the patient had Small Intestine Bacteria Overgrowth (SIBO).
Our patient has been very diligent with dietary change, and specific treatment to improve her microbiome. These results were only 3 weeks after treatment had commenced! (We are still working hard).
Not only was there evident change in skin appearance, her digestive tract has also improved with cessation of most symptoms.
Each individual is different, however this is the importance of thorough understanding and treatment š«
Cast Iron Pan š³
Did you know, if you cooked eggs in a cast iron pan it triples the iron content?
A recent study has also found that iron containing cookware may reduce iron-deficiency anemia. This is a great addition to your cookware if you struggle with low iron.
Our favorite brand which we both use at home is - very durable, adds flavour and increases the nutritional quality of your foods.

This. Is. Not. Food. šš¼
A common thing we see, is the introduction of a shake based diet in the hope to initiate weight loss. Often, the marketing can entice you without knowing the truth behind the ingredients.
Letās take a deeper lookā¦
You can see, the first ingredient is āwheat protein/glutenā (which they are advertising as the protein component) followed closely by, sugar. As the ingredients go down, itās followed by soy products, more glucose syrup and oxidized versions of vitamins and minerals. Using gluten as a protein is a very inflammatory, and inadequate source of protein which can exacerbate many responses in the body.
The formulation is a chemical storm.
These ingredients are used as it allows the shake to ātaste goodā and can also be changed to dictate how many calories, vitamins and minerals so it ālooks the partā from a number perspective.
However, there is no whole food goodness in this at all.
If you feel you need a simple, easy option to help kickstart your habits - please look beyond these drinks and reach out to ensure you are consuming Whole Foods.
We often say, the more the packaging is trying to convince you itās good, the worse it can actually be šš¼
Itās been a while, but recommendations are back!
We cannot recommend enough. Bec is a local, who offers clean, healthy meals each week to make your life easier.
Many patients are already utilizing Becās amazing service, and weāve been blown away with the variety, convenience and taste - so check her out š«

Contrary to popular belief, weight gain isnāt always related to your nutrition habits. More often, it can be due to other factors that are rarely discussed, or questioned.
Your weight (and number on the scales) tends to get too much focus. Advice can be given to āreduce your weightā without finding out why itās a challenge in the first place.
If you find you eat well, exercise regularly and your weight still wonāt shift, the following points need to be investigated.
- Sleep quality and quantity
- GUT microbiome
- Hormonal status
- Stress
- Muscle quantity, and quality
- Inflammatory challenges
- Autoimmune diseases
We want to reiterate that the number on the scales doesnāt define health. Investigating the cause, and challenging other aspects of your health may be what is needed to get things moving āļø

Never underestimate the power of food, especially from a functional health point of view.
We often forget, that the food and drink we consume on a daily basis can either help you, or hinder you.
During a busy week, or a busy day, when was the last time you prioritized your nutrition intake to assist with the stressful demands? Unfortunately, nutrition usually takes a back seat and isnāt considered at all. Itās not until you make small changes in a positive way, you start to notice how much you were previously suffering.
If your day requires; concentration, movement, exercise, mental load (in any capacity), caring (either for the young, or elderly) and household duties you require a phenomenal amount of nutrients to complete those tasks adequately.
If you have inadequate fuel, youāll have inadequate output of effort.
We like to focus on simple changes, that are therapeutic to your life to enable sustainable change.
If youāre feeling a little low on energy in your day, reach out. We can help āØ
