Council traditionally hosts an annual Careers Expo in May, Find Your Future in Hinchinbrook, located at the TYTO Conference & Events Centre.
The Find your Future in Hinchinbrook event provides an opportunity to bring together representatives from various industries, employment sectors and training organisations to showcase local career and employment possibilities and training pathways available locally.
In 2025, the event will be held at the Link2Country Expo on Friday 23 May 2024, combining two dynamic events to offer an even broader platform for exploring local career pathways.
This collaboration aims to enhance the experience for attendees and exhibitors alike. As in previous years, exhibitor registration will remain free of charge.

The team will talk you through what is required to commence an Apprenticeship or Traineeship and what option may suit you best, what options council can provide in terms of these positions, work experience options and provide hint and tips on writing your resume, application letter and attending an interview.

The awards celebrate exceptional female apprentices in Queenslandโs manufacturing workforce.
If you have a female apprentice youโd like to recognise for their leadership, initiative and effective communication skills, and their contribution to an inclusive culture in your workplace, submit a nomination.
The winner will receive prize money of $10,000, and the runner-up $5,000, to be used towards items such as tools, uniforms, education and career development.

This week, in partnership with Construction Skills Queensland - CSQ, we hosted a Construction Pathways Industry Site Tour, providing an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the $60 million Weststate Private Hospital project.
This development is transforming the Heritage Listed Townsville West State School into a private hospital, which will deliver a hub of health services to our local community.
The tour was an opportunity for Employment Services and other key organisations to engage directly with the industry, gain firsthand insights into workforce needs, build valuable connections with local employers and industry leaders, and learn how to better match clients with suitable roles to enhance their employment prospects.
A huge thank you to Mick and Mark from Woollam for hosting us and sharing their insights into the project and workforce needs. Special thanks to third-year plumbing apprentice Shaylah from SPD Group for her perspective as an apprentice, Jesse from C.D. Projects for his employer insights, and school-based apprentice Riley for his contributions.
Special thanks also to Jubilee Bowls Club for hosting us at their venue and providing a delicious catered lunch after the tour!
