Today we celebrate International Accountants Day. This is a chance to recognise the vital work accountants do. Accounting is ever-changing and constantly advancing, so we would like to thank you for all the hard work you do to keep businesses running smoothly. Happy Appreciation for Accountants Day!

Since our beautiful Yoona arrived, I have had three trips to Brisbane.
Kalila and Yoona were able to return to Townsville fleetingly, but it was just a quick detour. Yoona has endured more medical procedures in her nine weeks of life than many of us will encounter in a lifetime. So proud of her family for hanging in there and handling everything so well.
So grateful. Give your loved ones a hug. Be kind to everyone. You do not know what they are going through...
Oh, and I am back at my desk if you need me🙂

As we prepare for tax season 2022, I would like to thank all of you who have encouraged and supported me and the ongoing growth of my business.
A couple of reminders for you:
Have you made personal contributions to your super? Remember to complete the Notice of Intent to Claim form and wait for the acknowledgement letter from your super fund before attending your tax preparation consultation.
If you have investments such as rental properties, ensure you have copies of all relevant paperwork to support your expense claims.
Did you sell any investments throughout the last year? Prepare the paperwork outlining your acquisition costs and the details regarding the sale.
Correlate your business data for inclusion with your individual tax return.
And finally, substantiation is the key for all deductions you would like to claim.

It has been a busy couple of months. A wedding, celebrating 30 years of parenting and 100 days since our grandson joined the growing family. It has also been wonderful catching up with clients near and far. Remember to get in touch if I can help with your accounting needs or tax matters. Yes, I teach for James Cook University, so my noted hours are reflective of this trimester's timetable and will change in the future. I have just completed mine and it took only a few minutes once logged into the fund website.
Remember, to await the acknowledgement letter from the fund to complete your tax return.

May was a little busy (understatement) with the arrival of our beautiful grandson. But now it is time to knuckle down with our 2021 tax season preparations. How ready are you?

As March is drawing to a close, the enquiries are increasing. Yes, we are edging closer to tax season and now is a great time to start preparing your supporting documents for those deductions you would like to claim 🧐.

Whether it be wage and salary, investment or business income, you are able to reduce the amount of tax to pay by including your eligible deductions. Remember to check the dates - must be for the relevant financial year. Dig out those receipts for work-related expenses. Find the tax invoices for your charitable donations. Lodge the Notice of Intent to Claim with your super fund before June 30, for your extra super contributions to be included. Prepare your motor vehicle logbooks if this applies to you. Review your home office usage if you were working from home. And the list goes on.

I received a fortune on a candy from Korea today. It said 'You will make a big difference.' This is my hope.

As February 2021 comes to a close, I am fondly remembering February 2020 in a much colder climate than where we are now!
Our family has been busy anticipating great events - my son's new family home being built, a new son-in-law-to-be, a new grandbaby & starting university - and celebrating many others. I turned 53, my husband turned 52, our youngest turned 20, and we made it to our 30th wedding anniversary. All in the stretch of one month!

I hope that you have enjoyed February 2021 and all that it entailed for you.
