Toe Box: A roomy toe box provides enough space for your toes to wiggle without feeling cramped or restricted.
Optimal foot rest and elevation can aid in foot health. Elevating your feet and providing adequate rest helps reduce swelling and promotes circulation.
Podiatrists also treat sports-related injuries such as sprains, fractures, and tendonitis.
Lightweight: Lightweight shoes minimize the strain on your feet and legs, making them more comfortable for extended periods of wear.
Correct nail care is important. Cutting nails carefully and straight across can help prevent ingrown toenails and other nail problems.

Archies make a great present, and these flowers will never wilt.
Standard foot and ankle conditions treated by podiatrists include plantar fasciitis, corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, and hammertoes.
Breathability: Shoes with breathable materials allow air circulation, preventing excessive sweating and the growth of bacteria or fungi.
A healthy diet plays a role in foot health. Proper nutrition contributes to the overall well-being of your feet, including maintaining healthy skin, nails, and bones.
Julie will be going on a much-deserved holiday!!
Due to this, our office will be closed from Wednesday the 17th of April and reopening on Tuesday the 30th of April.
During this time, the office will be uncontactable; we encourage people to look to our website to book appointments: https://www.phoenixpodiatrycentre.com/
Please direct all emergencies to the Townsville University Hospital. After we resume general business operations, any messages left will be returned.
Thank you
Phoenix Podiatry Centre.
Podiatrists are licensed to perform nail surgeries, prescribe medications, and provide diagnostic imaging for foot and ankle conditions.
April is Foot Health Awareness Month! Let's raise awareness about the importance of foot care.
Cushioning: Shoes should have sufficient cushioning to absorb shock and reduce impact when walking or running.
We are hiring! Casual admin position available 2-4 mornings a week.
If interested send resume to [email protected].
Podiatrists are healthcare professionals who diagnose and treat conditions of the feet, ankles and lower limbs.
Arch Support: Good shoes offer adequate arch support to maintain the natural curve of your foot, providing stability and reducing strain on your feet.
The word "podiatry" originates from the Greek words "podos," meaning foot, and "iatros," meaning physician.
We will be closed on Tuesday 5th of February for the funeral of Julie's mother and Caroline's Grandmother Anne.
Thank you to everyone for your kind words and messages during this difficult time.
Julie.
Love your feet this month by prioritizing your foot health!
☔️ With all the wet weather around us, it's important to look after your feet (and yourself) to prevent Melioidosis 🦠
What is Melioidosis?
🦠 A disease caused by bacteria living in deep layers of soil
🌧 Heavy rain and flooding brings it to the surface
🤒 Melioidosis can cause many illnesses, such as pneumonia, sepsis (blood poisoning) and skin sores
What can you do to prevent exposure?
🥾🧤 Wear waterproof shoes and gloves when in the garden
🩹 Cover any wounds with waterproof dressings - Diabetics may need to visually check for wounds on their feet and legs
🧼🚿 Wash your skin well after exposure to soil/muddy water
😷 Wear a mask if using a hose/pressure cleaner/gurney around soil/muddy water
Those at higher risk include those with long-term health problems such as diabetes, and First Nations people

Whilst we love wearing our Archie's as much as the next person, please wear closed footwear today if you are cleaning up your yards. Protect your precious feet from cuts and infections!
🔎 Have you ever had an ingrown toenail or a wart on your foot? 👣
🌿🌿 Having healthy feet at all ages is important for your general health 🌿🌿
Feet are often out of sight and out of mind until something goes wrong, but many conditions can be managed and treated by a routine podiatry appointment 👩⚕️
Warts/verrucas are a common podiatry treatment, and ingrown toenails can be dealt with by surgical and non surgical means🩹
Never feel embarrassed to ask about a concern with your feet - most problems are very easily and painlessly managed!

Maintaining good hygiene is essential for foot health. Regularly washing your feet with soap and warm water helps keep them clean and free from bacteria and odour.

💭 Did you know that many of the foot problems we experience as adults begin in childhood?
Some red flags to look out for in your child:
🚩 Walking with toes turned in
🚩 Tripping/stumbling
🚩 Painful feet/legs and "growing pains"
It's never too late to see a podiatrist, and treatments in young children will often be highly successful and are well tolerated by most children.
Consider booking in your child with our podiatrist Julie!
