Happy Mother’s Day to our Student Mothers and Step-Mums! 🎉

The JCULSS Executive would like to take a minute to celebrate student mothers, stepmums and the awesome support Law students get from JCULaw, our workplaces and networks. Students are caught up balancing motherhood with student life and many challenges along the way.

Our Vice President’s favourite memory was when Ms Pretorius took a crying child in her arms and continued lecturing walking about the lecturer theatre with an infant child so a student Mum could study and focus on the lecture content in our first year cohort of 2019.

It’s never too late to follow your dreams! Juggling studying with parenthood is no easy feat. We encourage you to seek balance, and not perfection in your grades. Let go of some of those expectations you have of yourself. As Senior Executives and with Mothers on our committee, we know about the organisation and schedules we need to keep in order to learn, be ourselves and be a mother at the same time.

Thank you to JCU Law for supporting mothers studying Law – you’ve been a support in regard to our Higher Education pathways into our new careers. We hold to the notion of - in the end this goal will be worth it!

Today our Student Mothers, please take a little moment to celebrate you today, and what you are achieving with us in the JCULSS and our Law Degrees! You are superstars! ✨

If you are a parent thinking about starting university but worried about what it might mean for your family, get in touch with us at the JCULSS team, we will help you “find your way” alongside our hard working JCULaw Lecturer staff, many of whom are mothers themselves. 📖⚖️
