Great video about autism advocacy. What you see is the tip of the iceberg. What advocacy lies beneath?

I came across an Intro to Autism video that I thought was really pleasant and amazingly well done. It was done by the father of an autistic child, Alex Ameline who happened to have Tony Attwood as the local school’s Special Educational Needs coordinator

The main goal of Lions Clubs is to strive for a better and safer society. Autistic children and their families here in North Queensland have also created a Lions club and decided not to beg the government for providing money for their activities. They want to stand on their own feet. Tomorrow they will have a recycling session.
Make a smile on their face by giving them your support.

They are separating items including appliances at the end of their lifecycle and diverting them from landfill to materials and metal recovery to fund raise.
They are collecting e-waste on a path to have NQ based precious metal recovery from circuit boards.

Event is at the lions den, 38 Fleming Street Aitkenvale from 10 am to 2 pm. Saturday 17th June.

Autism awareness month, day 5:

This year, Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) asked the Autistic community what they would like people to know if they find out that a person is Autistic. The most important message is that no two Autistic people are the same and that autism may not be what you think it is. It’s not a one-size-fits all approach and there is so much misunderstanding out in the public. Fitting in can be exhausting. The environment and people’s attitudes can often be more of a barrier for people on the autism spectrum.

Autism awareness month. Day 4. :

People with Autism experience differences in the way they communicate and interact socially, and their behaviour may be repetitive or highly focused. People with Autism also tend to experience differences with their senses that can affect the way they feel about and respond to their surroundings.

Every individual with Autism is different. Autism is also known as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ‘Spectrum’ refers to the wide range of characteristics, skills and abilities that different people with Autism have. Every person experiences Autism differently and has different support needs. Although the core characteristics of Autism can cause a range of challenges, individuals with Autism also have unique strengths, skills and capabilities.

Autism awareness month(April 1 to April 30).
Day 3 message :
Autists are the ultimate square pegs, and the problem with pounding a square peg into a round hole is not that the hammering is hard work. It's that you're destroying the peg

World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day annually on April 2, encouraging Member States of the United Nations to take measures to raise awareness about autistic individuals throughout the world.
The terms "Autism Awareness Day" and "Autism Awareness Month" are often contested by autism rights advocates, who claim that they feed into perceived ableism against autistic people.

In 2021, our little Autistic Lions family grew from two clubs to four!

The North Queensland ASD Lions Club, based in Townsville was the third club. We went up to Townsville to celebrate:
