It was a bit exciting yesterday when Squeaky drove a full truckload of new trailers into the yard after weather and Covid-related delays. A man walks into a bar...
It was 2013. Nanjing, China. Business partners Clifton Read and Kevin Ma really did meet in a sports bar and bonded over a beer or two. Clifton had just started teaching English in a Nanjing university and would return home to Townsville during uni breaks, while Kevin was visiting his birthplace where he still owned a business. Kevin’s new home was on Queensland’s Gold Coast, and he was urged by his best mate from school days to help expand his burgeoning Brisbane-based trailer business, Stonegate Industries. The time, however, was not right. Meanwhile, the two new friends travelled separately back and forth between Australia and China but kept in touch. Fast forward to 2018. Clifton returned to live in Townsville permanently (cheers all round from his family). Kevin realised the north was ripe for a new Stonegate trailer outlet. After a bit of juggling, the stars aligned and Stonegate Townsville was born.
Between them, Clifton and Kevin bring a wealth of practical and local knowledge and hands-on experience to the business. They don’t just own their business - they perform every task and know it inside out. That trailer you are towing out of the yard would have been assembled by Clifton or Kevin with their own two hands. We are very much a family business and believe in locals supporting locals. We are proud that our trailers are put together here in Townsville and sold all over North Queensland for business and personal use. We care about the quality of our product and the service we provide. Are you happy with us? Please let us know or leave a review.
