Check out this awesome art at the Northern Queensland Legacy tent at Run Army on Sunday morning!
Hi everyone! If you haven't seen me before, I'm a fluid artist based in Mount Low, and I specialise in drinkware, homewares and personalised gifts, but my heart still lives on a canvas.
My Father in Law is a retired Airman and he commissioned an original piece from me - he wanted a field of Poppies, in my style, to donate for fund raising to the Legacy Foundation in rural NSW, in which he and my Mother in Law are active.
He was so thrilled with the piece I made him that he insisted I make a couple more to sell in our Defence community here in Townsville. So, I painted these three pieces to share with the Townsville community.
As part of the Run Army event this Sunday, my paintings will be on display at the Northern Queensland Legacy stall. Additionally, 25% of all sale proceeds will be donated to Northern Queensland Legacy, who helps support the families of those who gave their lives or health in defence of our country.
Each piece is a hand poured and painted original canvas, signed and ready to hang, and finished with a glossy protective varnish.
The pieces are as follows:
- "A Field of Green and Red": 60cmx30cm
** $350 **
- "A Moment of Calm": 60x30cm
** $350 **
- "A Small Mercy": 30x30cm
** $100 **
My commissions are also open to anyone wishing to have their own poppy piece painted in a certain style or size, of which 25% will also be donated to Northern Queensland Legacy.
You can view my work here: lillylovesgifts.com.au/collections/anzac-poppies
My work will be on display at Jezzine Barracks for the Run Army event, this Sunday 21st from 6am. We look forward to seeing everyone take part!
Very cool indeed! 🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃🥇🎖️

Northern Aroma show their support for Legacy’s ANZAC fundraiser
Anzac Biscuit and rosemary scented candles inducing memories of Veterans from to WWI have gone on sale to support Legacy in the lead up to Anzac Day.
Anzac Biscuit and rosemary scented candles inducing memories of Veterans from to WWI have gone on sale to support Legacy in the lead up to Anzac Day.
The candles have been produced by Townsville business Northern Aroma who were drawn to support Legacy as many of its customers are women with defence connections.
Michelle Carroll from Northern Aroma said they had designed two candles with signature scents to get behind the Anzac Day initiative this year, and they have pledged to donate $10 from every candle sold back to legacy.
“We’ve figured out where the rosemary has come from and that grew wild along the cliffs of Gallipoli and obviously the Anzac biscuits which they were made by the women back in the 1900s, that they raised those funds to go back to the family as well. So there’s a bit of history for the Anzac biscuit and the history with the rosemary,” she said.
She said the inspiration for the two scented Anzac candles was born out of Covid lockdown when the community was encouraged to support Anzac Day by lighting candles in their driveways.
“When like the dawn initiative started during COVID they had to go to the end of their balconies or driveways and had a candle and we’ve noticed that nobody actually had done candles for it.
“We are in the candle making business. It made sense that we would get behind and make some candles for this initiative.
“These are 100% Australian made, we’re all about sustainability and these are a double walled vessels so you won’t be able to burn yourself when you hold it.
She said they were drawn to support Legacy as most of their customer base were women.
“We are 100% owned and founded by women ourselves. So we love to empower women and we have a lot of friends and family that are related to defence and that’s why legacy with their affiliation with their women has drawn us to the charity.”
Northern Queensland Legacy CEO Nicole Hayes was delighted a Townsville business has approached Legacy with this initiative.
“I think the relevance for Anzac Day is really important because this sense, really, that that real Link to the past to the traditions of ANZAC Day,” she said.
Legacy’s obviously stoked to have an organization that’s approached us to have an initiative that could be an ongoing relationship and partnership.
“I would like to thank Veronica Smith, owner of Northern Aroma and her team for creating the beautiful ANZAC inspired candles and for choosing Northern Queensland Legacy as their charity partner for this wonderful initiative’.
“We always happy to join with businesses who want to help and support our beneficiaries and all the funds that Northern Aroma raise for us will go towards reducing financial disadvantage and social isolation for hundreds of primarily women and children that we look after in the northern Queensland region.”
The candles cost $25 and are available from https://northernaroma.com.au/
