Great news from our friends at Breast Cancer Network Australia last week with the life-prolonging drug Enhertu now officially part of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme for people living with HER2-low metastatic breast cancer. This targeted therapy will transform treatments for Sarah along with 1,700 people each year.

Today is National Cancer Survivors Day, and this year BCNA wants to acknowledge those living with metastatic breast cancer. We recognise that the term ‘survivorship’ can be difficult for those living with metastatic disease and that is why BCNA advocates for a shift to ‘living well with and beyond breast cancer’, not just ‘surviving’.

Those with metastatic breast cancer are living longer and experiencing improved quality of life thanks to new advances in treatment. As part of our advocacy, BCNA is calling for better metastatic data collection and reporting in Australia so that we can understand the unmet needs of this group and advocate for improved treatment, support and care.
