Last night
Last night, Dr Peter Houweling (Led Scientist in Muscle Research) and Dr Chantal Coles (Senior Scientist) spoke about their research to the @musculardystrophyaustralia (MDA) community.
MDA was founded by Mr Boris Struk, his motivation coming from the catastrophic diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy that was given to his son, Ryan.
Ryan did not let his disease define him and lived life to the fullest. A profound thinker and learner, he completed his BA with Distinction at Deakin University. After a tough fight, Ryan lost his battle in 2020.
Determined to Make a Difference (MD), Ryan’s legacy lives on. MDA has funded eleven PhD research scholarships including Chantal’s fellowship, and today this team forms an integral part of MCRI.
A really important and special collaboration between MDA and this research team 🤍.
