Exercising releases feel good hormones called endorphins, which improves mood and can help with destressing. Even a short, 15-minute walk can help clear your mind, improve your mood, and boost your energy levels. Whether walking, swimming, doing pilates, stretching or strength training, do something today for your mind.
There are many benefits associated with being outside, such as lower risk of depression and faster psychological stress recovery. It doesnโt have to be for a long time. A few minutes of mid-morning or mid-afternoon sun can make a big difference in how you feel and help boost a chemical in your brain called serotonin.
Self-care means taking the time to do thing that help you live well and improve both your physical and mental health. Engaging in a self-care routine has been proven to reduce anxiety and depression, reduce stress, increase happiness and more. Self-care could be going for a 30-minute walk, having a cup of tea, learning something new, playing a board game, sitting in nature, or listening to your favourite podcast. What is your form of self-care?

On 25 July Summit Health Centre hosted a Soup Day raising funds to start a Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) program in the Adelaide Hills. With the help of staff, tenants, and the wonderful soup-making volunteers, we were able to raise over $400 to go towards a DBT Lite Program in the Adelaide Hills.
DBT Lite is a type of cognitive behaviour therapy or talking therapy designed to help people who have difficulty controlling their emotions by changing the way they think and behave and learning to accept who they are. DBT Lite will equip them with skills and tools to improve their emotional regulation and improve their relationships.
With your help, we can change the lives of young people in our community. Donations are tax-deductible and Summit Health will match every dollar donated.

Did you know that training ourselves to practice mindfulness can enhance our wellbeing for several years? At CONNECTcare, we encourage practicing awareness as a way to be mindful and take care of our mental health.
Here are some tips from 5 Ways to Well-being Australia on how to practice mindfulness in your daily life:
๐ผRemind yourself to take notice of your thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and the world around you.
๐ผUse your senses to notice the presence of others and your reaction to them.
๐ผKeep a gratitude journal and write down things you're thankful for on a daily basis.
๐ผTake photos of nature's beauty and get them printed on paper or canvas.
Practicing mindfulness can be simple and enjoyable. Take some time for yourself today and give it a try.
