I actually almost never use power tools on the car. Maybe because when I first started pulling things apart all I had was a mishmash of secondhand tools and that's just what I'm used to.
Whenever I'm at Angelo's shop he's always like "why don't you use the drill/impact/whatever" and I'm always like... Oh yeah - Ah well, almost done now.
The end.

I know that social media is always changing but I actually have no idea what is even going on anymore with all the trending sounds - so here's my stagea and a friendly supra on the way to a meet a couple of years ago. Can't wait to get the clutch back in this bad boy and wind up the boost a bit ✌️
Been working through a few things on the budget turbo drift car KE70 - the most recent being the battery relocation. Being that it's now got a place to be installed the next step is to run the wiring but before I can do that I'm gonna tidy up the engine bay a little bit and plan out where a few things are going to go. The turbo will be installed via a J-Pipe and to do that I'll need to refit the factory manifold and also work out where a few other things are going to go. There's obviously a lot more detail on my YT so if you haven't yet already, go check it out and subscribe/leave me a comment. Let me know what you think! More to come 👀
Unfortunately I feel the need to say this: I've covered this here and there but it feels like it bears repeating. It's pretty sad to hear people say that they want to give things a go, but that they're afraid of what other people will say about them. It can be incredibly difficult to fail and keep going, and it's definitely magnified when you're considering posting that potential failure online for the world to see. "What if you make a mistake and don't even know until someone points it out?" As long as you're not on here pretending to give advice, teach something that you don't really know about, or that you are omniscient - you'll be fine. Unfortunately people are going to be critical of you whether you do something or not: you might as well just do it. It's pretty rare that people post the "bad stuff" or "uninteresting" stuff on their social media - let alone their failures. I try to keep it real as much as possible, but if I posted every mistake I made there wouldn't be a lot of time for the things I got right 😂 (and the more you fail the easier it gets). Nobody of any substance is on here judging you for giving something a go - they're too busy doing things themselves - or encouraging others. It's the surest sign of insecurity to unnecessarily go out of your way to being someone down. "How dare you for trying. And look, you failed and now I'm telling you: just like I was afraid it would happen to me". My following is not massive, but if you've got a page (even just your personal projects) that you're trying to get out there, comment below and let me know and I'll share a bunch of them on my story. One day we'll all be unalived and none of this will matter. ✌️
Should I buy another car? No Do I meet another car? Also no. BUT, I bought one anyway. Actually this will be a shared project but I'll explain later. Anyway this bad boy belonged to a friend and was too cheap to pass up on so naturally my hoarder instincts kicked in and made sure that it came home with me. Wayyyy back in time I was actually looking for a BMW 2002 before I bought her the Ke25 so now I've finally joined the euro car gang. I'll go into detail in another post, but this has got an i6 conversion from a 5 series that's been rebuilt, good diff, snazzy seats, all the nice stuff. Lemme know what you think ✌️ #e30drift #e30mafia #bmwe30lovers
I actually thought I might get away with not having to do the water pump and a few other things on the little KE25 Corolla before I got rego again, so I'd have a bit more time to make things nice and neat - but you know what they say about assumptions... So I managed to get to the servo and get fuel, then as I pulled back in the driveway I was greeted with some nice boiling coolant. I'm pretty sure it's a common problem that there's no replacement for the lower thermostat housing on the k engines and that they're also common to corrode. I'm going to replace the outlet with a new brass barbed fitting. But seeing as it's the long weekend it'll take too long to get a replacement and I can find one that's exactly what I want anyway - so time to fire up the lathe again. I don't think you can get gaskets for these either? Not actually sure about that one because I didn't bother to look - I'm just gonna make my own ✌️ Man I can't wait to actually drive this thing proper again. Gonna feel like a brand new car. Thinking I might actually turn this into a series. I legitimately have had some of the most braindead conversations with people via social media. It never ceases to amaze me how far out of their way someone will go just to give an opinion that no one asked for. Funnily enough I've never had anyone say anything like that to my face - but that is the beauty of the Internet. They're the same sort of people that would then go on to have a conversation with people they know about the declining state of the world, how nobody helps anyone anymore and that things should go back to the way they "used to be". The irony. You ever hear that saying: "don't take advice from people whose life you don't want"? Yeah. Thanks for the business advice "timbo". I don't know how I've made it this far in life without you, but thank God you're here now. ✌️ #vlogger #carmemes #jdm #engineering #fyp #drifting #nismo #workshop
Oh boy! Look at all this Corolla progress, who would've thought? Now that I've got it running pretty well - short of installing an adjustable cam gear - it's not gonna get much better. So it's time I try and mount up this MSD ignition module and also wire in the 2-step. But before I get ahead of myself, like I can definitely do, I figured it would be a good idea to do a bench test of the setup before I go running any wires and trying to troubleshoot things inside the car. This is a pretty simple setup, called a "self latching" relay - and it's been used for a very long time before I've come along. I think I might also incorporate an "active" light for it in the dash fascia, and a couple of other little bits too. But for now, this is working as intended and definitely enough to get it in the car for a test run. Let me know what you think! #launchcontrol #2step #msdignition #ke25 #vintagejdm #corolla #3dprinting #jdm
Oho! KE25 Time. It starts, CONSISTENTLY, and even revs past 3k. Amazing, right? So turns out, not only was my coil dead, my distributor was also dead. What are the chances? I'm actually confident enough to start moving forward with some more of the changes. I do still need to sort out some of the rust so I might get a start on that too, I haven't decided what order I'm going to do it all yet. I am pretty keen to get it 2 steppin, though, so I might sneak that one in first 😂 Engine progress in CAD is also coming along. I think I am gonna make those posters I was taking about a while ago, it's actually a pretty cool model! Let me know what you think! #projectcar #jdm #corollanation #vintagejdm #ke25 #ke70 #ke35
Getting older is weird. At some point you begin to transition into grandpa Simpson and before you know it you've gotta stop yourself from saying "back in my day" 👴 Throwback to some oooooold footage that was recorded on a mini DV and imported to the computer. Yeah, on a tape and all. Anyway my point being that as people who own a modified car continue to be the target of the powers that be, particularly in this state, I wonder at what point almost all the fun will be taken out of everything. Can't stop BnE or keep people locked up long enough to stop them unaliving grandmas in the street - but we sure can fund more mobile/fixed speed cameras and hwy patrol to stop the real criminals with bigger brakes, wider wheels and a "cold" air intake. Thank God my local council is spending that money they got on running an event on climate change though - I didn't want the roads fixed anyway. #streetdrift #drifting #carculture #r31skyline #s13silvia #jdm
Gather round, kids. Maybe I'll start a series of these where I can share some of the ridiculous things people have messaged or commented to me. It never ceases to amaze me the effort some people go to, to come out of their way to give me their NPC opinion on something that I never even asked for. Always happy to take on sponsors though, but until you're willing to give me some money - I'm not going to take your advice on how I should spend mine ✌️ If you're watching this video and you're upset - it's about you.
So it wasn't the only problem, but I finally caved and got an electronic distributor. I was avoiding it mainly because it will need recurving when I put the turbo on, but thems the breaks. Obviously still not running perfectly well, but now I can actually tune it and get it running right. Then we can see if there's any deformation with the adapter plate! It's a lot to cram in one video, but I replaced the condenser, points, cap, rotor and still no good. Pulled the plate and found that one of the advance springs was not attached. Still no good. Also the vacuum advance doesn't work. So basically it can get - Finally feels like I can start moving forward. I was going to take it for a test drive but I might have had a complete breakdown if I got it around the corner and had to push it home again. #ke25 #corolla #jdm
I still don't know how plastic straws became something to rally against, but here we are. Did a whole bunch of work to the 350z towards the end of last year and have a few updates to come on it, I kind of liked it before but now it feels like a whole new car. Just needs a turbo 😂
No really, I'm happy for you that your car's working. Me? No I'm fine. I'm fiiiiiiiiiiiine. Nah but seriously, there needs to be a time in my life when everyone has their cars working at the same time 😂 And it's a little bit my fault. Ok it's totally my fault. I'm always the one with the non-working cars.
It'd been a long time coming, but getting the KE70 going again was awesome. Awesomely slow. But still awesome. There's something that's been lost in the development of new cars, there are obviously some that are still made to be "driven" but they're few and far between. I don't care about climate control, electric seats or software updates - just give me something that was designed to actually be driven and enjoyed - I don't need any more appliances. Also - how good's an iced long black on a hot day?
D-day is approaching. All the people that said plastic wouldn't work on the engine... Probably don't even follow me. So I guess they're never gonna know the outcome! But man, what a saga this has been. I have replaced so much on this car now it's practically brand new 😂 So the engine ran perfectly for about 10+ minutes. Just enough time for me to give the carb a little tune and feel confident enough to get all my toys together and get ready to take it for a drive... Then I got out to the HWY aaaaand it didn't wanna work anymore. I thought possibly my days of pushing this car around might be done, but that's what I get for making assumptions. Like I said, I think I've worked it out now, but it took a while. Let me know if you think you can guess the answer. If you somehow guess it exactly right I'll send you a freebie 😂
It's been a journey, but I've finally got the battery trays ready to go. These are 100% manufactured in Australia, designed by me and cut, folded, powder coated and etched locally. These will suit an Optima Red Top 34 and Yellow Top 34 battery. The ownership journals will also be available in the next week, I'm currently finalizing some designs so if there's something in particular you're interested in seeing, let me know and I will add that to the list as well. The K-engine mechanical fuel pump block off plates will be available soon too. As always, thanks for watching and let me know what you think in the comments below 👇
Ever looked up how long it would actually take for an electric car to become carbon neutral? Embodied energy, anyone? Something that already exists continuing to be used and enjoyed will forever be a more environmentally friendly option. I wonder what the incentive would be for politicians to drive people to purchase more products from particular companies. Could there be a way for them to profit from that?...🤔 Anyway, what would I know? Car go BRRRRM
