Language warning. 😂 Fresh off the top of my cranium this one... these 2 fishing tunes have pirate words and are rough as guts really but they are kinda fun so wanted to share them. Good chance they won’t make it onto an album. So this is their little time to shine. “The King” song, I’ll pop up tomorrow night... there’s been a few people asking for that one.😂

Whooooooweeee!!!! @streakysounds was off the charts!!! I was thinking 600-700 tickets would be a great outcome… 1100 through the door!! Fantastic result! There is so much risk and effort put into these sorts of events and the organisers, volunteers, punters, food vans, all the backstage crew, sound engineers… all nailed it. It was a super relaxed vibe backstage and you can just feel everyone’s on their game. @choirboysofficial @britishindia @audioreign @jodimartinmusic , Sharon Moore, @bonkers and @caitlindrewmusic bloody smashed it!! I loved it from both sides of the stage. Thankyou to everyone who got behind it and supported the event. I’ve been so fortunate this year to get a guernsey to a few events like this and I’m always really grateful for the opportunity. It’s an absolute honour to play in front of such crowds and I never take it for granted. It’s one of the best and most unexpected feelings in the world to feel that your music is welcomed into peoples lives and that people utilise it in sometimes medicinal ways. It takes on a completely different meaning when you create something that might help someone you might never meet in person. That’s the magic of music. It has a way of finding you, when you need it. So thank you for the memorable weekend and see you all again very soon… ❤️😉

Woke up early this morning and there was that beautiful light rain. No wind. Kinda mild…. Smelt amazing… moisture on dry earth… and the light scent of the ocean which told me the wind was already around in the West… damn I love Autumn. Went down to practice some songs and found myself practicing this song “Rain”, off the new album, and thought I’d see if I could capture the light rain on the tin roof… it’s there… but very faint. Still got morning voice… and look a bit haggard 😂 but ya get that. 😂 And you might hear a bird on the roof tap dancing at one point, my smirk gives it away. Beautiful morning. Hope you’ve had a great weekend. I’m having a strum at @colour.tumby next weekend, which should be fun!! 😁😁 Cheers to Autumn!

“Old Man” - Neil Young

Alright… I promise I’ll do a music post soon. 😂😂 Tomorrow night, I promise I’ll record a music studio vid of a tune. But today!… I got to make a freeform spoon. These little ones are what got me into spoon making. One-offs. Touch-pieces… for the timber creeps amongst us. 😂 Usually just chasing the most sound and prettiest piece of spoon-worthy-timber out of usually extremely faulty material… interestingly some of the most stunning material is right next to material that is unusable. So there’s a lot of waste and you also have very little idea of what the spoon you are about to make, will look like. You just have to go with the flow and seek it out… and sometimes you can’t find anything… this one had a big crack in it… not structurally unsound… just a blemish that would have made this spoon a fail if I was making spoons for kitchen use, like I have been for the last few months. Those needed to be fit for use and foodsafe… where as these are just for the eye and touch. And about showing off the already-present beauty in the timber. I love that. So! This spoon came from a log some friends gave me, maybe over ten years ago now, from a dam near Kinglake, Victoria. I was told it was redgum. And is what is referred to as a “sinker”. An old logging term for a log that “sunk” in rivers, when rivers were used to transport logs down from further up stream. So this is sinker redgum… “Sinker” basically means any timber that has been submerged for a long period of time under water… and because of that, the timber undergoes colour changes, due to variables in the environment. Tannins, mineralisation, an absence of oxygen, leaching compounds present in the timber or in the water… and you get some amazing colour variations. The video doesn’t do it justice but as the spoon is rolled, the play of light reveals greys and blues, blacks and golden blondes. A little stunner. 👌🏻

Hope everyone’s having a great weekend! And those people affected by this crazy weather are keeping safe. Here’s another little vid. “Sparks” by Coldplay. I love a cover but will also drop a few of my originals amongst them. I use to cringe at doing videos but I’m slowly getting use to the facial expressions I pull. 😂😂 It’s kind of like recording your voice. I don’t know anyone who likes hearing their voice played back to them, but you do get use to it.. 😂 I’ve been wanting to learn this song for a while and this afternoon, after I ticked off my gardening jobs, I snuck into my music room with a beer. 😂Hope you enjoy it and hope everyone’s keeping well!!… Excuse the rattley snare. Awesome event!! Thanks to @adlguitarfest for including Elliston on this years “On The Road” tour. It was a blast! And a massive thanks to the Elliston community and also those that travelled from out of town for so thoroughly supporting the night. Thanks also @elliston.sa for all preparations and setting up efforts with volunteers. Thanks to @districtcouncilofelliston. And finally to @bakery_no.9 for food and Elliston Sports Centre for the bar facilities. This Thursday I’ll be releasing the full filmclip for this song “Time Counts Differently”. It’s a personal favourite of mine off the new album. And I’m really excited for it to wander off into the ether and find its listeners. I did everything I could to push this song towards the vision I had in my head and I was so blessed to have the incredible humans that helped me create it, share that vision. I hope the song and the visuals warm your hearts and drags you along for a little journey to the centre of Australia. My head pops up in it a few times, which I apologise for. 😂 I just tend to look away for a brief moment, and you can still hear the song. It works for me anyway. 👍
