It’s with a heavy heart I am having to write this and make this hard decision
I love what I do, but the problem is Bootcamps are a dying breed.
There is hardly any left. This is because Bootcamps are casual,
Gyms are open 24/7 and there are online workouts.
My mission has always been to create a safe non judgment free space for women to enjoy exercise and be supported by likeminded others and to make new friends.
It’s a struggle to get people to turn up/ somewhat commit to attending, which makes it really hard to run this type of business, I have been doing this for 5 years.
People don’t show up, or cancel last minute
I used to turn up not knowing if anyone else was coming, or not plan anything the night before just in case - but that’s not how I want to live my life. It’s just too stressful!
When the weather warms up I will look at adding Saturdays to Redland bay shoreline
And a casual monthly bootcamp and brunch

But for now I need to protect/ work on my mental health/ fitness/ health so I can be a better person - the last few years have been a struggle with covid, my health and personal life - and this business is just adding to the stress!!!
This is not the end of babe army fitness I love what I do and I don’t want to give it up.
I run my sessions much like a personal training session, I keep numbers low so I can watch everyone’s form and I can correct. I try to educate as much as I can. You don’t get that kind of service in group fitness.

Being sick really sucks and makes you feel like you took your health for granted !!!
Your health and well-being should be a priority not a problem !!
Eat nutritious foods, sleep and rest, take your vitamins, limit alcohol/sugar/ processed food, move your body daily, stretch, drink plenty of water, get outside in the sun and fresh air - it’s all the basic things !!!

Thursdays have been put on hold due to the low numbers and cold winter weather.
Sundays will continue to be casual, however if there are not 4 people confirmed by Saturday 5pm then it will not run, if I want to go away or have an event it wont be on. I used to turn up not knowing if anyone else was coming, or not plan anything the night before just in case - but that’s not how I want to live my life. It’s just too stressful!
If the session is casual it goes both ways, if you don’t commit neither do I.
Passes will be extended to 6 months but keep in mind you can use for Konga Monday and Thursday nights.
You must let me know by 5pm the day before if you’re coming- payment must be made. Just like any other appointment .

Why it’s important to take time out….
As much as I do really LOVE what I do, and it’s my only source of income for living - I am guilty of not taking regular time out to prevent being burnt out. In all my 10 years of working for myself I still struggle to do this without feeling stressed about money or guilt.
But truth is because I don’t take the time regularly to rest and practise self care it gets to the point where I do get BURNT OUT which is fun for NO-ONE!
Burnout is a state of complete mental, physical, and emotional exhaustion. If you are experiencing burnout, you may notice it is difficult to engage in activities you normally find meaningful. You may no longer care about the things that are important to you or experience an increasing sense of hopelessness.
You can also feel overwhelmed, anxious, have mood swings, trouble sleeping, feeling yuck and it affects all the people around you!
Your whole health takes a toll!
It’s so important that we all take care of ourselves !! It’s often forgotten about or not prioritised because of well, life !! Life is busy for everyone but it’s about time we actually put our health and well-being first !! (Easier said than done)
I could go on for days about the ways you/ I should look after myself, but will I actually do it ?
I know the benefits, the reasons we NEED to but why is it normal to push that aside and forget about it ?
It’s about time we normalise SELF CARE!
It’s not selfish to look after yourself in any shape or form.
There is a thing called balance and we should be spending our whole life trying to get BALANCE in every aspect of our life !! (Work, kids, relationships, mental health, self care, fitness, health, family, friendships and the list goes on)
It’s okay to take a time out, a day, a week
In fact it’s ESSENTIAL
This week I have barely worked, I’ve slept a lot, watched a lot of Netflix and just stayed in my pjs and not put any makeup on- these are things I would only normally do if I was sick 😷
Rest was needed as I have been NOT looking after myself - feeling fatigued, unmotivated, unsocial, ugly, all the negative feels I don’t want to feel .. and apart of me doesn’t feel any guilt because I am actually listening to my body for once !!
Now is the time to take care of YOU 💜

But sometimes unfortunately sessions are cancelled if there aren’t enough numbers
This is why you don’t see a lot of bootcamp sessions being offered as it’s difficult to keep up with big gym timetables.
I keep doing it because I love it 😍
I love the vibe an outdoor bootcamp has, the fresh air, the community it creates.
For each bootcamp to go ahead there needs to be at least 3 confirmed participants
So please book your sessions, just like an appointment and show up - it keeps you accountable.
I know that things can come up, and things can happen, yes there are some things we cannot control, so just let me know and communicate 📲

It’s getting cooler which means more sickness going around !!! Ewww 😷 🦠 it seems that everyone is sick!!!
We all really need to take care of ourselves better to avoid getting sick 🤒 and please consider others if you are sick and stay home, don’t spread your germs 🦠
As much as I don’t want you to miss a bootcamp session, I am a small business owner, I cannot afford to get sick and take time off as there is only one of me and I don’t get paid if I don’t work!
I’m sure you also don’t want to get sick, as that’s not fun😂
Please take care of yourselves to try and prevent getting sick (or multiple times)
1. Get quality sleep (7-10 hours a night)
2. Eat your vegetables and fruit - limit/ reduce sugar, packaged/ processed food and alcohol
3. Exercise daily - this doesn’t mean high intensity or the gym - mix it up with walks, gym, bootcamp, Konga, Pilates, anything you enjoy !!
4. Our diets aren’t what they used to be, quality of food isn’t as healthy and everything has chemicals - choose organic, natural, or spray free where possible for the highest nutrients - and supplement to fill nutritional gaps - you will notice such a difference! The supplements everyone should be on to avoid being sick- vitamin C, immune defence, cod liver oil & magnesium. Don’t buy synthetic.
5. Practise good hygiene- I know this should be a given - but wash your hands regularly to avoid the spread of lots of virus - if someone in your family or house is sick - stay away from them !! It’s common sense !! Don’t share the germs and please stay home if you’re sick!! Sanitise regularly when you can’t wash your hands.
6. Stress less - prioritise do something fun, and good for your mental health - get a massage, dance around the house, meditate - anything that reduces stress as stress can lead to illness
7. Spend time off your phone and read a book
8. See the sun daily for 15 minutes to reduce stress and anxiety and get a dose of vitamin d
9. Drink water!!! Minimum of 2L - 4L per day
10. Clean and disinfect your house/car weekly
I know it’s not always preventable but if we all did these things sickness can be reduced- don’t share your germs just stay home 🏠
❄️How to keep motivated in winter❄️
☀️While sunlight alone can boost mood, its effect is turbocharged when coupled with exercising and being in nature, which each also serve as mood boosters in and of themselves.
🧢Dress appropriately- wear a jumper and long tights when it’s cold
👟Lay your activewear out the night before or before work so it’s ready to go after work/ when you wake up (new activewear always motivates me!) if you have to, sleep in your activewear!!
💜Exercise with friends or in a group. The accountability of an appointment with someone else will help you get yourself out the door.
📝Make a plan you have to stick to.
Just as with most things, setting out a plan to your goals is a great way to stay motivated. Whether it's to feel better about yourself, change your body or even just de-stress. Once those goals are set, create a plan to get there even if it's just adding the workouts into your calendar – it'll give those sessions more importance.
💜REMEMBER YOUR WHY
There are many benefits to exercise, why do you exercise?
Mental health, physical health, self care, feeling good, sleep, socialising, stress management ?
💪🏽Do a light warm up/ stretch inside before heading outside in the cold to warm up your joints and muscles.
😍Remind yourself why it's important
In those moments when you have to climb out of a warm, cosy bed and head into the cold, it can be difficult to remember how great you will feel afterwards. Exercising on those dark cold days will actually help boost your body's 'feel good’ endorphins to help blast away those winter blues. Exercising has been found to boost your body's serotonin, norepinephrine and stress response to help induce a natural state of calm, That's motivation enough.
💤 Go to bed early - sleep is so important !! - it is needed for healthy body function, & recovery.
🎉BONUS TIP - set your alarm as a really good song to wake up to !!! That way you will be pumped and ready to go when it goes off !
