Just a heads up. There’s been a significant increase in sustained and aggressive bot hack attempts on our websites this week.
We continually monitor for this sort of activity and we’re confident that we won’t see any significant issues.
Our sites are built and maintained with security as a number one priority and we’ve avoided all disabling attacks to date.

We're manning the monitors this weekend to keep on top of the situation. To give you an idea of how aggressive they’ve been, some sites have experienced a hack attempt every 5 seconds for two to three days straight. This represents an increase and determination I’ve never experienced!

Hack attempts are nothing new. They’re an ongoing issue for us every day. Below is some basic info if you’re interested.

Bot attacks are automated, ranging from individual cyber criminals to vast hacking organisations. Attackers write custom code to vary frequency and length of an automated attack, designed to circumvent security monitoring.

A bot is a small piece of software that automates web requests to perform tasks without human intervention. A bot can be used in both helpful and harmful ways, while “bot attack” always refers to an attacker with a fraudulent goal.

Hackers can target literally anybody, and can use your data in many different ways. Financial gain is the main motivation. This might be through gaining credit card details or by holding your site to ransom. And sometimes hackers hack just because they can!
