Welcome to the world Pippa Morales Simpson born on the 17th Sept 2021.

Thank you all for your kind words and support during these COVID times and now understanding while I take some time with bubs.

I plan to be back Dec/Jan, but for now I will be enjoying the snuggle time with Pippa. Who knows she may even make some guest appearances from time to time at ESteem.

In light of the recent COVID outbreak I have had to make the very difficult decision to cancel all my face to face bookings off the advice of my Obstetrician. If you are in need, I can offer a phone or telehealth consult so please reach out.

This decision has not been taken lightly and I do so with a very heavy heart 😭. Best case scenario, if the cases and restrictions decline prior to the baby being born I will send out notification and open bookings back up. Otherwise ESteem will be taking a short break from now until approximately Decemeber 2021.

I appreciate your understanding and will miss you all

Em xx

In light of the NSW 7 day lockdown restrictions, For the next week I will be rescheduling appointments. If you haven't heard from me as yet, I will be in touch.

As Physiotherapy remains an essential service, I will revisit this decision if the restrictions are extended and consider opening up essential appointments again.

Stay home, stay safe and stay healthy guys 😊

Apologies for the delayed post as I have been on leave.

In light of the NSW health restrictions it is mandatory to wear a mask to your appointment as a condition of entry; this is your responsibility.

If you have been to any hotspots, are unwell or have cold or flu like symptoms including fever you MUST cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding.

Very accurate post from the Physio Network and a conversation I've been having a lot lately.

The pain will settle with activity avoidance/rest, but it will return once you are back at it. This is because complete rest does not address the tendons tolerance to load.

🟡 Does this mean push on and ignore the
pain?..... NO! 🚫

🟡 Does this mean you may need some
guidance on how to keep moving, while
building tendon tolerance? YES! ✅

A combination of manual treatment and exercise prescription is best way to recovery from injury

After some help with that shoulder to over head range? or even with your rig work?

Here is one way to work on that mobility.

We now stock 'Archies'.

Struggling with painful feet or plantarfascitis?! Feel better in supportive shoes, but can't live in joggers forever?

These truly are fantastic. After spending so much time telling people to look them up, I decided to stock these bad boys myself.

18/02/2021

Truth be told...It might not be one event, but a series of events that accumulated over time.

Despite that, often the answer is to keep moving with some load reduction and activity modification.

Not sure how?! Book in to have a professional take a look.

When we pick up that bar or those weights we do it with the intent of kicking some goals. So why not do it in a way which does not put you at a greater risk of injury?

⁉️ Riddle me this... what is the quickest way to reach those strength goals ❓

1️⃣ Pump out reps with terrible form on a
heavy weight
2️⃣ Control your form and pace on a lesser
weight

✳ Don't get me wrong, there are times we could all push a little harder and still maintain form (myself included). But there are also times we must choose form over weight.

🙌 oh this is accurate 🤣

However, a very crucial part in a Physiotherapists job is educating you to get to this point. Be sure when you walk out of an appointment that you know....

❗What's wrong?

❗ What are the healing times?

❗ What can you do to help the process at
home?

If not feel free to ask more questions. Knowledge surrounding your injury is so important to help you trust in the process and take control of your injury.

Are postures and asymmetries Important to pain?
No, Yes, sometimes.
It is NEVER that simple.....
The body is robust and adaptable. It is very capable of performing at high levels PAIN FREE in the presence of asymmetries.
Pain is a multifactorial experience that encompass mechanical, biological, pyscological and social factors.

Massive Shout to my good friend Jase at for building the beautiful door/piece of art. Check out his page for his other masterpieces.

Also big shoutout to my husband and our friend Jase who have spent hours building and creating my vision for the new ESteem look.

Plenty more styling and fine tweaks before more photos, but this door had to be shared.

Question 1: neither needed surgery
Question 2: Get your mind out of the gutter 🤣In the context of disc bulge size does not matter, symptoms do.

Both of these patients sort help from a Physiotherapist, and both have responded well.

Research has demonstrated

1️⃣ People that have no pain also have disc bulges, protusions and joint degeneration on imaging. These findings are common, and unless it matches your symptoms it is unlikely the cause. It is important to be aware that imaging is only a small part of the puzzle. A good therapist will treat the person, not the image.

2️⃣ Surgery isn't all that helpful for back pain alone. HOWEVER It can be effective for treating people who have leg pain, weakness and loss of sensation that has not improved with conservative management.

Cutest little trades people working on the new space for ESteem. I am considering docking their pay for the amount of snack and toilet breaks they take though.

We are design to HEAL while we are MOVING

However, we often believe that we must completely stop for fear of causing more damage. When in actual fact it is the natural course of healing that causes an ache here or there "Louis Gifford".

Seek professional advice if you are not sure how to return to activity with joint pain or after injury.

Often I am asked if things look 'out of alignment'.

As humans we have large variations in our anatomical alignment; our body is incredible in its ability to adapt to these variations.

As a Physio, I often look at any variations with a more critical eye when someone is struggling with pain or injury. However, in the absence of pain there is often no need to worry.

😄😄😄 we are also now on Instagram

Now that gyms are opening and sports are recommencing, don't be like this guy and let poor planning lead to injury.

DO...
• Manage your expectations.
• Take the time to assess your current fitness
level.
• Slowly build back up.

DON'T
• Expect to be to have the same level of
strength and conditioning.
• Go from not training, to training hard
everyday.
• Force yourself to do more then your body is
physically capable of right now.

Injuries occur when your bodies load is greater then your bodies capacity.

Lest we forget...

17/04/2020

I haven't posted in a while... this is my little workout setup this morning.

I am still open, still training and here to help.
A lot of people coming in with a sore neck and/or shoulders. My own husband included 🤦‍♀️.

- Change in training routine?
- Poor home office setup?

If you need some guidance I am offering phone consultations, telehealth and face to face.

Photos from ESteem Physiotherapy's post 28/03/2020

The PM has stated that Physiotherapy can remain open. However, I know everyone is or should be being diligent by socially isolating and maintaining appropriate distancing.

I always work hard to maintain and update ESteems model of care. Most sports have had to cease and gyms have had to temporarily close down.

However, I know most of us are struggling with niggles and resorting to training at home.

Some employment types continue to be essential and injuries can still be hard to manage, some people have moved to working from home in a make shift office that may not be ergonomically set up.

With all of the above in mind Ive set up a telehealth option on our booking link.

This gives us the opportunity to provide a FREE consult to determine if you need to be seen in person. Alternatively we are able to provide a full consultation via telehealth at a cost.

Most health covers will cover up to 100% of this cost via Telehealth. And if needed to be seen in person, ESteem continues to uphold strict health and hygiene standards.

24/03/2020

In light of the rapidly changing situation around COVID-19 and the unfortunate temporary closure of our gym 'The Fitness Shed', I wish to inform you all that ESteem Physiotherapy is still open.

I will continue to uphold strict hygiene health and hygiene standards. I am taking guidance from the Australian Physiotherapy Association and NSW health daily, and I will continue to keep you updated on any changes.

I do however ask that you stay away if you are unwell, have a fever, any cold or flu like symptoms and if you have been in contact with anyone travelling from overseas or confirmed COVID-19 cases

As always, my aim is the wellbeing of my clients. Please contact me if you have any concerns or questions.
